Hi Molly m. Yeah I've heard of Gouves, Quiet little village,I believe. WE sayed at Hersinnosos and the next time at Ag Nic., so maybe we had a bit more to do in the larger towns. It's one of the reasons we like Icmeler, just the right size!! :D

Sorry to keep telling you how horrible rhodes is but when we were there we were sunbathing on the harbour and we were so used to seeing red turkey flags and on the holiday to rhodes it was all blue greek flags and then...... we saw a turkish boat with the red turkish flag sailing into the harbour with holidaymakers from marmaris and icmeler on the rhodes day out tour, We could have cried in fact i think i did we just wanted to jump the turkish boat as stowaways. we were so sad i can't tell you how bad we felt

Berni, I know how you must have felt. It's awful being somewhere that you don't want to be, knowing that you could have gone to Icmeler instead. It really is a unique place, I think.

I used to think it was just us that that thought that way, but after reading, and joining this forum I've realised that it's everyone who visits Icmeler. It took me 6 years to get my best friend and her husband to go there on holiday with us - and believe you me it was hard work, with lots of persuasion and pestering. Now, they are the same and like it better than anywhere else.

Do you think that we all get put under some kind of spell ? Hey, what a nice spell though :D

strayed to far

Postby colinuk1 » 22 May 2007 11:11

we strayed to bulgaria ,, after all the good reports we had on it ,, cheap prices cheap beer cheap food , we just had to book and go , well it was the worst place ever we was only there one night and we were trying to get a flight into turkey , but it meant going to istanbul then a flight to dalaman , it would of been so expensive , as for the people they was minus ten , food minus ten the resort (golden sands) minus 5 out of ten . the people were so ignorant no smiles no manners , no humour, as for the cheap beer we only found one place where it was 30p a pint it tasted like cats xxxxxx , never again we will stray off that road to icemeler ,, 34 days to go and counting :D :D :D :D :D

Im straying from Icmeler this year too - going to Hisaronu for two weeks. I do share your feelings for Icmeler, but for me, there is a big wide world out there - why go to the same place over and over again, in my eyes eventually it gets a little dull when you know somewhere so well. To be honest, I think it will be a while before we venture back to Icmeler.

Hi
This year we told ourselves we were going to try somehere else. Due to work commitments and not being able to take my son out of school, we booked a villa in Playa Famenca near Torrevieja in Spain for Easter. We were gutted when we found out that Icmeler had opened at Easter. :x It was awful and are now trying to go to Olu Deniz in Aug.I know its not icmeler but feel we need to try another part of Turkey. If we don't like it its not far to get to Icmeler. Will never ever go to Spain again, the weather was dreadful and the only Spanish person I spoke to was at the airport on the way home. The friendliness and hospitality in turkey is unbeatable.
Don't feel like we've had a holiday yet, what a waste of 2 weeks

we are going to icmeler for the first time ever and are really looking forward to it! i hope we get 'the bug' too! we went to egypt last year and i have to say as an AI holiday it was great but i like to go and pick a nice restaurant in the evening and have a look around the shops etc. we have a 3 year old who will hopefully love it, BUT i have to say pre baby, we ended up in Lardos which is next to Lindos and is EVEN WORSE! there were 2 restaurants within walking distance and 1 shop. it was the middle of hell! and to top it all off i ended up having to go to hospital as the mossies feased on my legs and made them swell like sausages!! not to mention the construction work going on in the hotel next door and getting leared at by the workers! ha ha! what a great holiday!!!!!!!

never been to turkey and i'm sooooooooooo excited?

I am also a first timer to Icmeler and wondering what i'll be like when i get back.

First went to ALtinkum in 1993 and went 8 times on the trot, couldn't see past it,but then i thought to myself i have to go somewhere else for a change see some different places, since then i've been to South Africa,Greece,Lanzarote,Bulgaria and guess what...headed back to Turkey, went to Gumbet then Alanya.

Definately the friendliest people in the world and fantastic weather.

12 weeks to go woohoooooooo

Although we are going to Icmeler in August, we have just been to Bulgaria for a week.

We did have a nice time. The weather was touch and go. Apparently it is still there winter and not everything was up and running.

We have been going to Icmeler for the last four years and this was the first time in that time we have strayed. To me Bulgaria, Sunny Beach came no where near Icmeler. I kept comparing everything. I found the people quite rude unlike Turkey where they can't do enough for you. Shopping in SB again does'nt come close.

Roll on August and I can come home.

I first went to Icmeler 5 years ago in the May and then ventured to Gumbet which was lovely and again the people were great however icmeler still won. Unfortunately due to different circumstances we didn't manage back till last September and as soon as we had arrived remembered why we had always wanted to go back after 4yrs. We have been to Corfu (Sidari 3 times), Crete, Cyprus, Algarve and Corfu again). We did enjoy them all however Icmeler wins hands down every time. And have even managed to convince my brother and his girlfriend to come for 1 of our weeks in September and I know they'll love it too!

we first went ten years ago.we could'nt believe how green and pretty the place was. over the years we have been to other places america, spain, majorca, tenerife and loads of different places in turkey.we have been at all times of the year to different hotels and apartments, but as soon as the bus comes down the hill at the marmaris palace and i catch my first tantalising glimpse of icmeler.all stress leaves my body and a feeling of contentment washes over me.i do'nt think there is anything wrong in going to other places, but nowadays we just do it when icmeler is resting
