why icmeler does it for us

Postby hamish1966 » 10 May 2007 12:45

hi i fell in love with icmeler just last year after our first visit but we have got friends and family that have been and recomended us to go,
our friends etc can afford to go anywhere in the world and have done in the past along with all the main holiday hotspots and cruises but they all say they wish they had gone to icmeler or cant wait till next time
so if you can go anywhere why do we go to icmeler just what is it that does if for you.
when we were made aware that we were flying from manchester and the long transfer last year i asked myself why we put ourselves though such a long journey from glasgow and thought that majorca was for me,
on the way back from icmeler the journey was no problems infact i now justify the long trip to my friends (16-17 hours for the full trip)
we fly from manchester again this year and who cares cause i'll be in eastenders on the 30th about 2am out ma box but back in heven :D

Hi

We came across Icmeler purely by luck.
October 98' we booked a cheap holiday off the teletext, dont usually do that either haha, plus i had never heard of Icmeler or anyone i knew that had gone to Turkey before.
But although our aparts (Sahara) were basic,it was one of the funniest and best holidays i've had...the year after that we went 3times and every year since have been a least twice.Up to this year and in 2weeks will be my 24th time haha.
But in my opinion and probably alot of others its the people that make it for me.
I went to Tenerife last year and all i done was compare everything to Icmeler...anyone else find yourselves doing this??...so to get Tenerife out of my system so to speak went to Icmeler 4times last year haha.

Cant wait to get back home!
:P

Yes Bec, we compare everywhere we go to Icmeler, and nothing comes close. Like you, we discovered it in 1998 and same thing, it was a last minute cheapy and we'd never heard of the place. How glad are we that we went there. Since then we've been to a few Greek Islands, Cuba, Dominican, Canada to name but a few - and not one of them comes even near to Icmeler. We keep trying to find somewhere as good, but I don't think we ever will.

I think it's a mixture of the wonderful people, the prettiness of the resort, the inexpensiveness of things (although it has gone up a lot in recent years) and also the fact that you can go there very cheaply - I never pay more than £550 for the both of us, for two weeks - can't do that anywhere else. A big factor for us is the Turkish sense of humour - it's very similar to our Northern British ones. Does anyone else think that ?

I've been going to Icmeler since I was 15! Fair enough, that was only 8 years ago, but have been there 4 times, 5th in October! Only ever been to one other place & that was Ibiza! Didn't enjoy it at all. Like the rest of you, I compared it constantly to Icmeler! Cannot beat it! I think what does it for me, is how friendly people are! They cannot do enough for you! I remember the last time I was there, 3 years ago, a guy that owned a jewellers recognised me from the first time I was there! It's crazy! The Turkish charm is also second to none! 8)

We booked to go to Sharm el Sheik in June, this holiday was booked and paid for last July. I moaned ever since booking it and it was my idea. I tried everything to get out of it but my other half decided it was a good idea and we would enjoy the 5* AI .
I did not give up but to we both decided in the end that everything paled when compared with Turkey especially Icmeler. We have also been to Gumbet, Olu Deniz and Belek. What does it for us is EVERYTHING. It ticks all the boxes of the things you want in a holiday.
Sun, good food, brilliant people, no hills to climb to bed after one or two drinks, hic ! Plenty of areas to discover on days out, boat trips hopefully were my husband decides he is not wearing a dress this year or dye his hair blonde.
Great Place

We went to Marmaris and visited Icmeler just to go to the beach. That was it, Icmeler is the only place in Turkey for us now and we've been to Kusadasi, Marmaris, Altinkum, Bodrum Side, and Ayvalik.
What ticks all the boxes ?..........EVERYTHING

We went to Icmeler for the first time last year and are now totally addicted to the wonderful place. Can't put my finger on one particular thing. The people are so lovely, the restaurants serve the best food, the scenery is amazing, the sea so clear. Can't think of anywhere else i would want to go now....going twice this year and already planning for next years hols. :D
