Staying in old village at Sun Village right now. It's our favourite part of Içmeler to be honest. So quiet and peaceful up here and lot of little street and alleyways to wander around. Definitely worth a walk up from Imperial - no more than 10 minutes will take you up to proper old village.

I'm with Blondie on this, the Old Village is the best place to stay. I also stayed at Sun Village as you know Blondie from my blog. I wouldn't say there are many 'old' pubs and restaurants but there are smaller, family run places for instance Sidik's Family Restaurant. You can't beat the hospitality and of course more 'home' cooked food and dishes. Yummy. :D

It always amazes me that there are people who've been to Icmeler a few times and never ventured into the old village. There's plenty of eating/drinking places and nothing is more than a 20 minute walk maximum from the centre. Give it a try jimmy.

Our apartment is up in the old village. Goats and hens for neighbours. Brilliant!!!!
If its a "oldish bar" you're after try visiting Captain Sinbads by the mosque. Sipping cold Efes watching the goat herder move them down the lane is a pleasant way to spend a little time. The food they serve is good too. :P

I always stay in the village and for me the "Old Village" is the real Içmeler. When I first visited in the early 90's what is now classed as the Village didn't exist and there was only a dirt track from the main crossroads leading into the Old Village. It has been wonderful watching it develop but I so love going into the original part to watch people going about their everyday lives.

I agree, Icmeler is a great place, but the old village is the best part. It is so peaceful there, cows in back yards, goats, loads of fig on trees, real Turkish people going about their business. No frills, just true Icmeler.

I am the opposite, I have been going to Icmeler for the last 13 years, twice a year, spent many an hour in the old village & although we have walked the beach path to Marmaris (yuk), we have never set foot on the beach. How bad is that !!
