Churches in Icmeler/Marmaris

Postby dotty » 01 Apr 2007 17:38

Does anyone know if there is a Catholic church in Icmeler or Marmaris? Its not for me because when I'm on holiday religion is the furthest thing from my mind, but my better half would like to know. Any replies much appreciated.

I doubt very much you'll find a Catholic church as it's Muslim country, plenty of mosques though...

Yes I know Mazz, but thought maybe with there being quite a few British people settling out there that there might be one. Mind you, my other half not against finding out about other religions, maybe he could go to the mosque.

You'd have thought there would be churches, as you say with the number of Brits making a permanent move out there these days, but I don't think other religions are really recognised in Turkey.
I should think there are places where Chrsitians, Jews and people of other faiths meet, but it's probably in someone's house or a community centre or something ... that's my guess, but it'll be interesting to see....

I've been in couple of mosques and they were beautiful. If you haven't been inside one you should - just be prepared to cover up and take your shoes off.

I am sure that there is a Christian church in Marmaris as there is a Christian cemertery there.

I am not a religious person but have stopped to look at the cemetery a few times
