Fresh Bread

Postby dj_sploits » 13 May 2014 06:36

Hi everyone,

This year we are going self catering, stopping in the Lighthouse Apartments. We usually do B&B in the Ida (next door) but by the time we have a turkish or english breakfast, have lunch a few hours later, we always find we weren't that hungry for our evening meal (and that is the best time to eat as the evening meals are fantastic as you will all know). We opted for self catering so that we can eat light during the day then devour a steak later on.
I'm planning on getting fresh bread in the morning and that will do us for breakfast and lunch but I'm not too sure where the bakery is. I remember seeing on another thread years ago that it was near Tansas but even when I've been up that way I have never noticed it.

Any advice would be great.

Thank you in advance :)

I might be wrong but I think it's just around the corner from tansas. Not facing the main road, facing up towards the school. Someone will correct me if im wrong but I think that's where it is.

Daisysun is right, the great little bakery is just round the corner from Tansas. When you come out of the doors of the supermarket, turn to your left and it's practically next door.

Have a good breakfast, skip lunch and have a wholesome dinner at night. The little market on main road, at top of road from square, across from underground market do delicious bread in the morning, I'm up with larks and always go there to get bread for my wife and boy's brekkie

Brilliant, thanks for everyones replies, just over 8 weeks to go and I'll be doing the early morning walk for the bread :P

cmac, that one might be ideal as it appears to be closer to where I'm stopping. Thanks

You will also find all the little supermarkets have fresh bread delivered every morning, with the basic large loaf costing just 1 lira if you don't feel like walking all the way to the bakery.

Hi LaneyICR,

Yes I had noticed that (mainly the little supermarket next your office and the Tandoori Sizzler) but I'm sure last year I noticed it didn't open until later in the morning. I don't mind the walk if it is closed when I'm up, as it will be nice to see Içmeler waking up on a lovely summers morning :)

There's also another bakery next door to the mosque in the old village if you fancied a different route for your walk one morning...
