Lost its fizz

Postby Yorkie » 31 Jan 2014 20:42

Is it me,or has Icmeler lost its fizz since all inclusive popping up everywhere.ive been going to Icmeler for last 12 years and loved every minute of it, but last couple of years it's gone quieter. I think not having the stalls on the canal makes a difference.

I think a lot of people miss the canal stalls - I do think that area has suffered for the lack of them. However, for me personally, Icmeler hasn't lost its fizz and I still look forward to returning year after year. We are coming to Icmeler for a week at the end of May - but if we have a second holiday this year, it will probably be elsewhere in Turkey - not because of anything to do with Icmeler, but we've explored a few different places now and it's given us a taste for seeing more of this wonderful country. I think it all depends what you want from your holiday. and I certainly wouldn't to see a proliferation of more AI places.

I have been going since 1992 and am pleased I have seen it at its best but after going last May we have decided that will probably be our last time.
We normally go every October but its just not the same.I dont thik its because of the AI hotels as there doesnt seem to be many more than there was a few years ago and most folk eat out anyway.
I couldnt be bothered with the hassle last May and as we were staying in the village we just stayed there on an evening.
I have been to Kusadasi,Olu Deniz,Calis beach,Fethiye Side ,Alanya,Gumbet,Bodrum,Cappadocia,Marmaris and Icmeler.
Last year we also visited Tunisia ,Malta,Austria, Sharm and some places in the UK so we are going to visit countries that we havent visited for years.

I think it does you a good turn when you try a different holiday venue...makes you realise what a nice place Icmeler is. You only have to go to Marmaris to find that one out.

We tried Altinkum one year, it was ok, but the following year we were back to Icmeler.
Icmeler makes me feel relaxed as soon as I arrive, no winding down.

So, for me it's not lost it's fizz, but everyone has their choice.

We going to Icmeler for our 13th year on the bounce.i always say that it's our last year, but when it's time to book holidays I can't resist Icmeler as I hit the ground running and don't have to spend 3 days finding my feet.AmI just trying to find an excuse to break away from the Icmeler pull.the worst thing is the locals are so lovely :D

Just back from a week on Costa del Sol and had a really good break, but each holiday I take, I always compare to Icmeler, and not found one that beats it yet. Marmaris, Gumbet Kusadassi I have also been to and Icmeler is still my favourite place in Turkey

Prices for example in Fuengirola on Costa del Sol it is 9 euro per day for sunbed and sunshade, Icmeler is what £1. Food prices in Fuengirola especially in Chinese restaurants was very good 5 euro for a 3 course meal but the rest were typically around £10. Icmeler food is also better quality and very well priced.

The stalls have gone and thats a shame but the new square gives the place a new focus

So Im back for my 10th visit in May, only 15 weeks to go

This has been mentioned before but I do also feel instantly relaxed when I arrive in Icmeler, it is like a second home to me and I feel comfortable. It can never lose its fizz to me. I do go on other holidays through the year but always have at least one in Icmeler. That feeling when I wake in the morning to watch the resort coming to life, is the start of that fizz. Choosing which lovely restaurant to eat in each evening, even more of a fizz. But, each to their own. :D

personaly we love it!
We are going to Icmeler for 3 weeks this July and can not wait. We did look into going somewhere else for our 3 weeks as we had been to Icmeler for our last holiday but in the end we decided on Icmeler again and know we have made the right choice. Rol on July :D

For the last few years we have spent a few days having a look round other places in Turkey before heading on to Icmeler for out holiday proper, and as nice as those places have been, I haven't got any plans to swap them for Icmeler. I've been to other countries as well, and most of them just don't compare. Don't ask me what the attraction is, I really can't answer that because it's not any one thing. It has everything I want from a holiday. When I stop feeling like that, I'll find somewhere else.

I've travelled extensively and been to many wonderful places.

A friend of mine has been coming to Icmeler for years and last May I finally agreed to go. I loved it so much that I broke my own rule of never back anywhere twice in 5 years - I went back in September last year.

I'm also going back in June and to a friends wedding in September.

I've really caught the bug 8)
