Visa help - flight home 181 days after issue

Postby noodles1609 » 24 Aug 2013 15:00

Can anyone assist? We'd like to have a late week or so in October and have found flights that take us back home from Dalaman on 14th October. Our visa was issued on 16th April this year, so that takes us 1 day over the 180 days. Are we able to pay another tenner on the way in for another or is that a no-no? Is the 180 really strict? On both our passports you can't see 16th on the entry visas but clearly see 23rd on the way out of Dalaman - could we argue we came for less than a week in April and only arrived on 18th? Or does 1 day over really not matter that much?

Or should I just look for different flights....

It's not worth risking, I would look for earlier flights :?

I agree, people have been fined for being one day over and the new rules say you can't buy a new visa in the 180 day period however I believe some people have. Would I take the risk, no.

Entry Visa.

Postby WELSHPAT » 25 Aug 2013 19:31

Had holiday in Icmeler from June 1st till 17th this year. We are returning again on the 27th 0f Sept till the 14th of October. Is our entry visa from June still valid or will we have to pay again.

Thanks.

Stamp Visa

Has anyone made a second trip through Dalaman this year with the old stamp type visa? If so, were there any problems or is there anything I should be aware of?

Got mine in May and going back on Monday so I know it's officially valid, but just wondering if anyone has already done it.

Did it last year with no problems, not gone on my second visit yet.

Can't see it being a problem, as soon as your passport is scanned they know when your visa expires etc as its on the computer :D

Yes we went to Istanbul in March this year and then through Dalaman in May without any problem. Must admit we had to hold our breathe because they forgot to stamp her Ladyships passport as we came back from Istanbul. Lady luck smiled on us or was it because the chap in Dalaman did not notice the omission!!

i'm assuming that the stamp visa you buy at the airport will still be valid and available next year - July as we are booked for then and the travel agent told us we would need our £10 at the airport for our visas. If they weren't going to do them then surely all of the travel agents would be aware of a date everyone would no longer be able to get them at the airport as they would have to make their customers aware of this as it would cause an awful lot of problems if everyone continued to arrive at the airport with their £10 to get the stamp visa and they weren't available :?:

Thanks for the answers. I feel much happier now!

Daisysun, word from the Turkish Gov web site is "The practice of “sticker type of visa” has not changed (until further notice)"
Don't see why travel agents would know any better. In fact I have always found that we know more about Turkey than they do

Thanks, dont' know why I didn't look for different flights! Seems the obvious thing to do. All sorted now and got a day longer out in the sun too - returned 2 days before expiry now :)

Well I got through OK with my stamp visa from May but not before the cheerful happy chap on passport control looked for a new one then shouted Visa Visa Visa! To which I replied Visa From May in There! After which he went straight to it and stamped it having a little grin to himself.
You would think that with a passport full of Turkish visas they would be pleased to see you back again!

Couple of years ago, we were coming through passport control - hubby, son and I all came through with the usual nod and stamp of the passport, my daughter seemed to take forever and I began to wonder if they didn't recognise her from her passport photo, as her hair was a different colour. However, when she finally emerged, she said the passport guy had been really smiley and chatty with her after noticing all the visa stickers in her passport and had been having a big chat with her about how much she liked Turkey!
