No more walks up to the flag?

I've heard that the path up to the flag will be closed this season, in an effort to clean up the mountain, and preserve the plant life. Can anyone confirm this? And what'll happen if I find another way up?

It's been closed due to the fact that even if you didn't know the way up there, all you had to do was to follow the trail of rubbish and plastic bottles discarded along that route

You will be shot on sight if your head lifts above the skyline near to the flag

Personally I was getting fed up walking up there all the time anyway

Oh what a shame my youngest son was only talking about going up to the flag again this year over tea last night he will be very disappointed. He was going to make his older brother go with him and my husband LOL

Thank goodness for that. At least JT you will not have to sit on the old man with me this year to stop him trying to get up there.
