ONUR AIR FLIGHT

Postby kayterry » 13 Mar 2013 07:15

Our flight was booked through flybe but it is an Onur Air flight.
I think this is a Turkish Airline, so does anyone know if we will be able to purchase an alcoholic drink onboard and will we be offered duty free cigarette's etc? :?
Thanks

We used them a couple of years ago and they were fine, served drinks and duty free. Only issue was that there was no video entertainment but that could prove to be a godsend, as I remember the airline staff were very professional.

We have flown with Onur Air several time and always found them to be ok with quite reasonable leg room. No inflight entertainment (a good book will do) and with the usual in flight cabin services, refreshments, duty free etc.
A safe airline.

Enjoy - nothing to worry about.

The only problem you'll have is if you need to contact them to make any special requests. Last year we booked with Thomas Cook and they transferred us to OA and we had a nightmare trying to organise wheelchairs. We found out there was a loophole in the law as the flight was transferred to OA, so TC had no responsibility for the booking. They were then regarded as 'agents' and we had to contact OA direct. No-one at OA could deal with this request.

Also, check your duty free allowance as last year I heard one flight attendant telling a woman that the allowance for cigarettes was 600. The allowance hadn't increased and it was still 200. I think it was also wrong in the flight catalogue.

Apart from that we've always found Onur Air to be excellent and wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again.

I flew with them nearly 7 years ago so my experience isn't relevant now probably. I found the cabin very sparse and the crew could barely speak English. The flights weren't enjoyable at all, however the thing that sticks most in my head is coming back to Glasgow airport. The weather was horrendous on landing and the pilot had to do a go-around. Was scary as hell, but they done a brilliant job getting the thing down.

Thank you for your reassurance silverbeard21, it's made me feel a lot better about everything.

Sorry to hear you had this problem with OA & hope you managed to get the wheelchairs sorted in the end.
Thankfully, we don't need to contact them for any special requests.
Thank you also for your advice regarding duty free allowances. Very helpful.

Flew with Onur from Birmingham September 2010, as stated no in flight entertainment but the usual drinks duty free etc. I do recall a cup of tea was over £3 a cup mind and not very nice at all. Apart from the pricey tea everything else about the flight was fine.

Also flown with onur air a few times and had no problems definitely prefer them to Thomas cook. Not sure if they fly from Gatwick any more, JT can you confirm if they fly from Gatwick?
