Sandybeach
That's a good point. If you are looking for a good manicure I always use Istanbul salon near Wayside in the Old Village but I have never had Shellac. The ladies there do a good manicure and pedicure at a reasonable price.

Thank you sandy beach & sunlover. Never thought about the heat ruining the shellac.
Probably just have a manicure & pedicure when I get there.

Hi, there is not one salon that does shellac or acrylic as yet. I saw a notice for acrylic nails and I was all excited about getting them done as mine really needed it and I knew it would be cheaper out there. I booked an appointment but when I arrived, I looked around the salon while I was waiting and I could not see any equipment for this kind of service.
I showed the girl my nails and she stood shaking her head.

I then went across the road to another salon as when they approached me they were all saying yes we do them no problem. Again, I went inside and could not see any equipment for filing them down etc. The girl came out from the back looking absolutely knackered and proceeded to try and pick the acrylic off my nails. I pulled my hand away and was like, er, no I don't think so.

So, without going on any further, no they do not yet do shellac or acrylic. I think they just about do the stick on fake nails.

There was a new place which definitely did acrylic and gel nails (not sure about shellac) last season. It was up near the Robin Hood - the girl was very helpful and friendly and showed me her own acrylic nails - she had all the right equipment and everything. Not sure if it is still there, as we haven't been this season (yet).

Oh, I think I know where you mean. That's along the main road back down towards the Old Village way. There is a salon there that is quite new.

hI Niamhsgran,
My friend and i had our nails done, (shellac), the day before we flew out..2 weeks in the August heat, not to mention all the lotions and potions and a trip to the beach. Apart from obvious growth the nails looked just as good when we got home. In all it was almost 3 weeks before it was removed... The heat certainly did not affect them...
Enjoy your holiday with or without shellac nails...

Thanks for the replies ladies.
Blondie I think I used the salon youre talking about. I used it last year for manicure & pedicure & the girl done a grand job.
Sami I have never had acrylic nails. Bit scared they ruin my own nails.
Biddy I'm now thinking about going ahead with the shellac before I go.

Thanks again x

I dont know of any where that are doing Shellac nails because i dont think you can just buy the stuff, you need to be trained to put it on !. I had my fingers and toes done before I went on holiday in July, they were perfect the whole two weeks, in fact I have just had them removed and done again. The heat in july was intense but it did`nt melt off :o :o

I get glitter gel before I go and have found that the girls out there who do nails are fascinated by them they always examine them and ask how they are done etc so I would say if you are just looking for a manicure then they are fine but for gel or shellac i would them done before you go. Again I would say that I was there for for 3 weeks and there were days when it was over 50 degrees and I had no problems with mine.

I havent a clue what shellac nails are but my wife and daughter went to a shop called Sebastian Rose which is next to Captain Bulls**ts and both had a manicure and a French Polish painted on their finger nails for £9 each and she also painted their toe nails free of charge in the French polish style.
Any help --- probably not but i tried :)
