Postby pip » 03 Sep 2012 16:07

hi all,

got a friend going on the 6/9/12 to icmeler,

with the rate falling here he has offered to get me some lira for next year, could anyone tell me the rate in resort at the mo to see if it is worth doing. 2.74 best i can find in england.
The bank rate is still 2.85 on main page but know its normally a few points below in resort.

thanks in advance pip.

Will ask him tomorrow, uses a few different places, it's been at that since the end of last week so probably from most of the usuals by now I would expect :)

I always check the rates on
http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.co ... y/#results
which compares the rates for a lot of companies including Asda, Post Office, M&S and Tesco to get the best rate. Most of them deliver free if over a certain amount so there are no charges at all and I used to find that ice was usually the best rate. The rate was always a little better on http://www.travelfx.co.uk/ but I was reluctant to use it as you needed to do a bank transfer and I expected that there were charges which would work out as lowering the amount of lira I would get. Janey on this forum mentioned a while ago that there were no charges, so I ordered lira late last wednesday. They told us their details to take into the bank, we paid the money in and received the lira on saturday. Simples!

Their rate today is 2.82.

I'm glad your transaction went smoothly Dragon :)
I have been keeping an eye on the rate all through the year and every time www.travelfx.co.uk has a higher rate than anyone else.
As long as you order £500+ then it is a completely free and very fast service with next day delivery. :D

2.86 is widely available all over Icmeler today, if you know anyone that will cut you a bit of a deal, 2.87 isn't out of the question either

Chris at Lovestar usually does a good rate. He was the highest when I was there in June.
