The Strange things you do as your holiday approaches

Postby dksbbs » 29 Aug 2012 20:01

I know it's sad but I always like to know if there is a strong possibility I'm going to be delayed before starting off for the airport, normally a delay is due to the inbound aircraft, I know it can go tech on arrival but I still check my planes previous flights first

We next fly to Dalaman on Wednesday 12th September on ZB668 (Monarch) and the previous flights for the plane currently used on this route are as follows:-

Tuesday am Manchester to Venice and Venice to Manchester
Tuesday pm Manchester to Antayla and Antayla to Manchester
Wednesday am Manchester to Faro and Faro to Manchester
Wednesday pm Manchester to Dalaman

It may change next week with the peak holiday season ending and I will check again. I don't bother checking the return flight.

What strange things do you do before going on holiday

I do exactly the same, caught out TC last year, got to Gatwick to be told theres an unexpected delay on the incoming flight,Unexpected ,i said, surely you,ve had the same delay on this flight for the past 3 weeks,as it always leaves late from Canada, wonderful thing the internet, poor girl didn,t know what to say, i just stood there with a big smile on my face, and a dont lie to me look in my eye,...Rog

This one's a little daft. Our last shopping day before we fly ALWAYS has a purchase of "long life" milk, something we usaually don't buy at home. This is to make sure that there's milk in the house when we return home.

I sooooooo look forward to seeing our Tesco trolly with long life milk in it, it's unreal.

With 24hr shopping and this year a flight that lands a little after 5.00pm, there's no need......but we're gonna do it any way

Well Pops, I thought I was the only one that made sure we had long life milk to return to but I am not alone after all! I like to change the sheets the day I am going much to my OH amusement, and wash up all dirty clothes from the washing basket. He says it willl still be there when we come back - we don't have fairies I tell him!

I thought I was bad enough checking the outward journey of my incoming flight! I've downloaded the airport apps so I can check the departures and arrivals - but there's a whole new level to that I never knew - please share how you do that, I'm intrigued, I want to do it too!

The one for me is putting the fridge into "holiday" mode, last thing I do before going after putting bleach down the loo

We're an odd lot aren't we!!

i use flightradar24 to identify the planes registration number and then look at that plane's previous flights. If you want me to check for you give me the date, departure airport and flight number.

The site use doesn't give that information, what I do is on the day of the week my flight goes I have a look at the airport websites. eg, Last Wednesday my flight departed Manchester late but landed in Dalaman bang on time.
