Some of my jewellery bought in Icmeler is hallmarked but not all of them. I have silver earrings with '925' on them and another pair with no markings.

I'm no expert on hallmarkings but of the gold items where I can't see the markings they've all been valued for insurance purposes and all been valued at a much higher price than I paid. Provided you buy from a reputable jeweller then it should be ok. Come to think of it the only valuation certificate that mentions that there is no hallmark is my OH's watch. The hallmark must have been on the links he had removed as it was too big. He didn't keep the extra links as the gold is sold by its weight. On the other jewellery there may be hallmarkings that I can't see, some markings can be quite small. I buy my gold jewellery from Firuze (some of which is 14ct and the others are 18ct) and silver from My Silver.

This year I took a number of items with me and had them 'rhodium plated' which I am very pleased with.

Had a quick check of my rather sustantial stash of silver acquired over the years in Icmeler - without exception it's all hallmarked, as are all the gold items too - I've bought from various places over the years, much of the silver being from the canal stalls in the "old days"
