How To Turn Your Voicemail Off - All Networks

Hi all,
Leaving your voicemail on while in Turkey can turn in to a costly affair, as any messages left will be charged to your bill.
So while up early this morning i thought i would put together all the network How To's to turn them off.

Vodafone - Voicemail off - Dial 1210 - Voicemail on - Dial 1211

O2 - Voicemaill off - Dial 1760 - Voicemail on - Dial 1750

3 Network - You can only turn this off by phoning customer services, and can take up to 1 hour to be in effect.

Orange/T-Mobile - You can only turn this off by phoning customer services, and can take up to 1 hour to be in effect.

All these answers i have got from the service providers websites, so if anyone has more knowledge then feel free to add it here, as it will help people avoid a costly bill.
And don't forget to turn all data roaming etc etc off.
The kids (and bigger kids) can still get their fix of facebook etc via wifi which is available in almost if not all bars and restuarants.

Thanks Chris anything that saves everyone money which can then be spent in Icmeler is great, and better in our pockets than in already greedy Network providers

Brilliant, thanks Chris. Very helpful. I came back last year and had a bill for £180 for calls that I had not made. Never again. I am thinking about leaving the mobile at home this time, just in case. Buying phone cards are cheap in Icmeler, so that might be the answer for me.

Good shout Chris - or should that be good call haha. I've the misfortune to be with Orange on pay as you go, so I refuse point blank to ring their customer services

The way I get round things is to go into my phone "settings" and set the phone to refuse all incoming calls, rather than diverting them. Not sure whether it turns voicemail off, but I only check for them when I'm back in the UK.

Doing this means I can text and receive texts, so I get some use out of my phone if I need to

Mind you, it's not an iphone - the kids rib me for it, calling it an antique/brick, so maybe this wouldn't work on newer phones??

I racked up an additional £40 on my phone with just 2 phone calls (to arrange airport transfers) and a quick check of my bank balance using online banking. It is a smart phone and as soon as I turned it on, loads of messages and alerts came through (I usually leave it turned off on holiday).

This year, my daughter has a very basic pay-as-you-go phone (no internet) so will probably use that if we need to text anyone - I will put money on it as-and-when we need to top up.
If my daughter wasn't with us I would probably invest in a cheap pay-as-you-go phone (can get them for around £20-£30) as contracts can rack up massive costs.

With a smart phone you can check your bank via wifi at no charge.
You just have to make sure you turn the roaming feature off!
And if friends back home have smartphones you could both download Skype or similar to your phone and also chat via wifi for free.
