Walking

Postby DarrenDilnott » 12 Jun 2012 05:11

Hi guys. It'll be my 1st time in Icmeler in september, and it looks beautiful, and scenic. Can anyone recommend some good walks?
My idea of a good walk would be from bar to bar, but my father in law likes the idea of walking up into the hills for a few miles. Away from the crowd so to speak.
Any routes would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, a couple of good walks are

1) Icmeler to Marmaris along the coastal path.
2A more energy sapping one is the up hill walk to the flag. Not really up hill more up mountain. Jim

Hi,
If you do the Flag walk, make sure you use the correct route otherwise your legs will be scratched from the bramble type bushes. Another walk some friends did, was to walk to Turunc over the the mountain, that was last September, it took 4 hours and the locals kept stopping to offer lifts, I don't think they will do it this year..

Another which I do is around the old village making my way to the newer village and on to the beach.
Plenty of watering holes on the route.
Take a bottle of water with you for emergencies.

Hi Ralph,
We're at the Kleopatra this year, over near the market. A bit nearer the Flag..... but farther from Sabti's

Hi Brownie1,
The way to the Flag....Get on the Market to Tommy's road, between the two you will see a side road with barrier.
(See first picture on link)
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=15450&p=142684&hilit=flag#p142684
Go up this road until you reach a fenced compound, approx 20 foot before the compound you will find some paver stones.
( Last photo in this link)
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14714&p=135282&hilit=flag#p135282
That is the start of the Climb....
Be careful as you can miss the correct path, it is a well worn path and not this last link,
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff63 ... 010328.jpg
Which can become a scramble and my first failed attempt
Also please bring any water bottles you use to reach the Flag back down with you......seeing the litter was the only thing that spoilt the climb....
Enjoy Steve
