Approx day costs in Icmeler

Postby Lee » 17 May 2012 15:18

Hi Everyone,

Just trying to get an Idea how much Turkish lira I will need per day whilst on my 14 nights holiday,We are staying at Bilnur Apartments because the TC deal choice was good price. (would have looked at the icmeleronline hotels but didn't know this forum/site existed until 2 days ago!)

The two of us plan on eating out almost everynight, Not sure if I will be having breakfast (never been a morning eater), but almost sure to have a lunch time snacks each day, a few beers along with the evening meals. we are a 32 year old youngish couple , but not into partying, We love to just enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. And perhaps a few drinks on some nights/evenings in a not to loud and noisy bar if thats going to be possible? (not ever been to Turkey so hve no idea what to expect)

We never been abroad much before so I have no clue if we will be wanting to do any activities or just soak up the sun on the beach.

any help would be much appreciated, We will be heading out on July 13th.

Welcome to the forum, and I am sure you will have a fantastic time in Icmeler.

We go as a couple, we eat out 2-3 times a day, and might make a sandwich etc for lunch. We always take £100 a day to cover trips, shopping, eating and drinking, and due to the exchange rate being really good at the moment, we came home with nearly £400 last year, after a 14 day holiday.

We dont hold back on anything we want to do and we are prone to having a good few alcoholic beverages in the afternoon and evening.

I am sure £70 approx would cover you, but to be safe we always cater for £100 per day.

Hi Lee,
We always go Self Catering, having said that the only thing I've used in the apartment is a kettle   ,
You can can eat out as expensive or as cheap as you want, but you do feel you have to ease up on large meals.
You could get a fresh cooked chicken for sandwiches, or a pizza. there are loads of meal deals, just be aware that fish dishes tend to be Expensive, so ask the price before ordering. Also take a look at http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 8e86a260a2 if you scroll down the list on the left and find the Faber and Bahar, I think the Bilnur aparts are near this location......Every where is within easy reach..
Enjoy Steve

The Bilnur are behind the Bahar ( at the top of the road) we stayed last year and are returning this year. The food at is reasonable at the apartments and if you turn right out of apartments and follow the road to the end you will find Sidiks restaurant which has great reviews on here, we are going to try there this year. Plenty of restaurants etc nearby and supermarkets if you want to eat in. :D

I notice you say that you have never been abroad before, so in addition to the advice given already re daily amounts , the exchange rate in Icmeler is normally better than back home so my advice would be, change perhaps £100 before you go to see you over the initial part of hols, Hire a safe and take a credit card as back up should you come accross anything unexpected, as far as money for the hols I always take cash and change as I need it in Icmeler normally best rates in supermarkets, dont change in aparment/hotel as you will get less. And as you are new to the forum have a look at the past topics and I'm sure you will find more info that will help you.
Most of all enjoy Icmeler as the rest of us do again, again, and again.

what fantastic information, thanks folks, this is very much appreciated.

Regarding safes for keeping money/valubles, is this available in the apartments and how safe are they really? would it be silly to keep a cards and money in them together.

I'm a little confused about where the Bilnur apartments are now, Thomas cook seems to think they are way up more towards and above the Eden Garden apartments, can anyone confirm this?

Use the Map in the link.....all places are as it shows....Jozzd states in an earlier post that the Bilnur is near the Bahar, he has stayed there.
You can use the zoom tool and move around it.

Noticed you are located on the Borders. Make sure you take English notes as you will get a lower rate for Scottish ones. Crazy but true.

Hi Gary,
The Bilnur are very close to the Senem apartments there are plenty of restaurants within a short walking distance as previously said close to Sidiks,Wembley Bar, Cubana and approximately a 10 minute walk to the centre. We always hire a safe and keep all our credit cards etc in it. Have a fabulous time in Icmeler amd welcome to the forum.

Hi Lee, the Bilnur apartments have just been done up and are approx 15minute walk from the centre of Icmeler, so not far at all. As a forum member if you come to the ICR office we will issue you with your forum card and this can be used in Tandori Sizzler restaurant and Havana bar where as a Forum member you can take advantage of different offers in both places. At Tandori Sizzler one of the offers is free breakfast before 12pm, and one of the offers at Havana Bar is if you are having a meal there then soft drinks with the meal are free. Both places have other offers for the forum members so visit them and ask for more details.

LaneyICR,

this has made my day!, I will be heading to the office for my card!, I'm just a wee bit sorry I didn't know this forum existed until a few days ago, I most likley would have booked through Icmeler online to give them my full support, however there is always the next time.

ashington44, thanks for the heads up, at least 'they' take scottish, you try to buy anything in England with scottish notes and you get told where to go!

Bankielass, who is Gary, LOL!!!!

Going back to your query about the safes and how safe they are, not much in some cases, but you have to bear in mind that most of the insurances will not pay out if you had the choice and didn't get a safe, they take the view you did not use the security you could have had.

Hi welcome,

I hope that you enjoy your forthcoming holiday to Icmeler, it certainly is a beautiful place.

Okay, I have been 3 times in the past and stayed at a hotel with bed and breakfast.

I always went down for breakfast even if it was to eat some fruit and some orange juice, coffee etc. I would fill up as much as I can on my breakfast and take some small cakes with me and fruit with me ( to eat through the day) this saved me money.

Then at the beach I would need maybe 20 Turkish Lira per day which would cover ice cream and few drinks and bottle of water each day.

Everning meal would be around 40 Turkish Lira per evening (I usually had change to carry forward to next day).

If I had a trip or excursion that would obviously be more.

I have managed to get by on £500 per person for a 14 night trip to Icmeler which includes the excursions, gifts to self and Dalaman airport.... I think it worked out average £35 per day each..
You can spend each day as little or as much as you like. One day you may do an excursion and have a feast of dinner and bottle of wine, next day you may just have one ice cream on the beach and a small salad and just a couple of beers.... :-)

enjoy

hi another thing as you live on the borders make sure you take english £10 note for your visa and make sure it is 1 per person and not a £20 note for 2 as you do not always get change and then you need another £10 for the other person, you will love icmeler, there are plenty of bars and restaurants for all tastes ie quiet or abit noisy with music on, bear in mind aswel that if you eat in a restaurant near the sea front it will probably be more expensive that further in, wine is quiet expensive in the restaurants aswel min of about £11 a bottle, if you fancy a boat trip or seeing some sites take a look at the ICR excursions, here http://www.icmeleronline.com/icmeler_excursions.php
hope you have a great time and dont forget to take plenty of pics and stick them on the photo gallery

sorry forgot to say we notmally spent about £800 thats with about 3 or 4 boat trips and eating out about 5 or 6 times in a 2 week holiday, but we do go out for a dring most nights if not every night

I would also add that it's a good idea, depending on what you drink to pick up a bottle of spirits or 2 from the airport on the way out. Then you can have a drink on your balcony before going out in the evening :D
