Flight Changes

Postby dragon » 12 Jan 2012 16:07

Just been notified of flight changes. Ok going out as it's only an hour later but our flight back is now eight hours earlier so we are now losing a day of our holiday

Our flight was with Thomas Cook and we had noticed that an Onur Air flight had appeared a few weeks ago from Cardiff Airport. Just checked with TC and their flight is cancelled so we either fly with Onur Air or change our dates. For anyone that's interested there is an alternative to their 0870 telephone number...01274 387707.

Luckily we're there for 3 weeks but it's still annoying to lose a day. There must be others booked on the flight that are only going for a week and are losing a day :( Might see you there Alison, we're there at the same time.

We have booked with Thomascook and since november when we booked they have changed our flights four times... Leaving later and returning earlier...We flight from Manchester on the 3rd sep returning on the 18th or should i say 17th now,, Anyone else being treated like this by them... I book around about 8 flights a year with these never again... Don;t really think that the way this company is at the moment, messing people around with there hard worked for holidays should not be happening very dissapointed

Last year Thomas Cook changed our flights four times the last time was ONE week before going and we already had our tickets. They didn't re-issue them just said to use the ones we had!

This year so far Monarch have changed the times once and Jet2 not had any changes with them yet.

Is that July or September/October Dragon? I'll be off to any meet ups that are arranged

We're there in July, just wish that we could go in September as well. Hopefully there will be a meet up to attend. :) I know you shouldn't wish your life away but I'd like to fast forward the next few months :)

We fly from Cardiff on Sept 17th for 14 days, these have changed by 15 minutes, but still showing as Thomas Cook flights.

Which date do you go?

We fly from Cardiff on 29th June and should have returned early on 21st July but we now return in the evening of 20th. Until a few weeks ago there was only a flight with Thomas Cook. Then for a few weeks there was one with Thomas Cook and one with Onur Air timed a little later. The one with Thomas Cook has now been cancelled as I suppose the Onur Air flight is cheaper.

The reason why we lose out is because with Onur Air we arrive back in Cardiff an hour before the time of the flight that we flew out on (obviously three weeks later). With Thomas Cook we would have returned to Cardiff on the return journey of the time of the plane we flew out on. Don't Know if I've explained it well or not but effectively we lose the time of a flight to and from Dalaman which is about eight hours and it means that we lose a day in Içmeler as we now have to leave in the morning instead of the evening. Someone else has mentioned on the forum they can make changes even a week before :(

We are usually quite lucky regarding changes from Cardiff, but with TC using Onur Air now at TC prices we are falling into the same problems as other airports re flights changing times. Can't you change to the TC flight to stop you losing out?

No. I rang them to see if I could and was told that the original flight with Thomas Cook is cancelled and everyone either transferred to the Onur Air flight or have to change their dates. I suppose this is going to happen on other dates as well. I don't have a problem with the prices, well not this year anyway as we had consequential losses but we definitely lose out on the timing of the flights.

My flights from Exeter have changed - now flying with Freebird Airlines instead of Thomas Cook and there is a small time change too. I'm just thankful the flight is still going from Exeter!

Don't think that we can take anything for granted as the economic situation is getting worse for everyone (unless you work for a bank and still get your bonus!) The only good thing is if you've booked with Thomas Cook then it looks as if financially things are secure until April 2013, but even then, that's as far as we've been told. As a last resort (pardon the pun) I'll travel to Içmeler on my electric wheelchair if I have to

Another TC flight change here for May. It's now leaving a couple of hours later, so not too much of a change, but that's not the point really. They've got you over a barrel and it's totally wrong, will happily cancel your flight if you don't want it, but the charge is 100% of the amount paid!
