New Icmeler Main Street

Postby rakigirl » 12 Dec 2011 00:49

Sorry for the missleading subject title.

Iam thinking of the long road that starts at the jewellery shop and goes all the way to the top of the road ending at the Wembley bar.
I have seen this area grow over the last 2yr ( the new 3 bells (soon ),hanedin , Lal, Robin Hood, Romance palace and many more).
This road is on the dolmus route to/from the old village and seems to be getting more popular.
Is it just me ? or do others think that this is Icmelers new strip? I say this in a good way as I love this area of Icmeler.

3 bells is all ready inside now to welcome people for 2012 though there is still some work going on at the back of the building and at the moment they are talking about putting in a splash pool for the people melting at the back of the bar in the summer.

The only other place open in that road is Nefis Pide but there isn't much doing there.

We stay behind Nefis Pide and the Lal. The area is very peaceful here but on the odd occasion when we don't go out it's lovely to have the window open and to hear the guitar playing from the Lal :) This area isn't noisy even between 10 and 12, except for the Romance so we wouldn't describe it as a main street especially as there are so many others streets with a lot more going on.

At the moment the Lal is finished as the people that rented the place have moved to Antalya, so hopefully someone will come along to rent the place otherwise no Lal next season

What about the place that used to be Ozzy's, can't remember the name now and Lovestar on the corner at the end? and Sony's on the other side of the road too.

Just hope that it won't be replaced by a bar/restaurant with 'boom boom' music as I call it. These bars are fine provided that there are no apartments very close nearby, or perhaps it's just that I'm getting old :(

I agree - there are plenty of bars playing music, etc. I'd love to see a few more places doing good, authentic Turkish food and perhaps Turkish music in the background too.

I worry for some of the restaurants on this road. We were there in May/ June and stay in the village. We walk down this road on the way into the main part of town and the restaurants, Robin Hood, Sonys, Lovestar, and Ozzys old place were always very quiet. If Icmeler/ Turkey is going to be quiet again dont know how these places will survive

The Lal will never ever turn into a place like that as it is owned by Dr Murat and he will not allow it

Yes, I also noticed all of these places getting quieter over the past year. I used to really like eating at Ozzy's but now that it has changed hands it does not give that inviting feel that it used to. I have gotten to know Chris at Lovestar so eat there quite a lot, I hope they don't go under as they have a prime spot on the corner there. I have to admit, I have not eaten in Sony's as I used to know it as Rainbow and was run by friends of mine who returned to the UK so its just not the same and again, does not have a very inviting feel.

I agree, peli - it is a shame, as we thought it was exactly the kind of place Icmeler was crying out for. We loved the food and the atmosphere at the Lal, and I hope perhaps it can be resurrected again in a similar style. More places selling lovely authentic Turkish food in that kind of setting would be great as far as we are concerned.

Will be a shame if no lal in 2012, we went last year for the first time all 17 of us, all the kids (14 to 17) loved it as well as the adults, we were lookin forward to re visiting the bar, fingers crossed it might re open :(

We only went to the Lal once. There were four of us and we ordered different meals which were all very disappointing. We would have given it another go as the restaurant was in its first year when we went and we always believe in giving any business a second chance, especially when it's new. We loved the atmosphere and the guitar playing though and hope it will be replaced by something similar.

Meanwhile we love the Hanedan which has a nice atmosphere and the food we had on each occasion we went there was excellent. It doesn't have entertainment which can be a good thing, as sometimes you don't want all the noise. This restaurant on this street is definitely recommended and is at the top of our list of favourite restaurants, along with the Sizzler.

Really disappointed to hear this. We were in Icmeler for our first visit in September and we had two fantastic meals in Lals.

Was one of the few places you could actually fully relax and feel like you we're infact in a foreign country if that makes any sense.
