xmas time

in icmeler....anybody ever been at xmas... to be honest i dont fancy it, i'd imagine it would be very quiet !!

hi jimmy glasgow, i stayed in Marmaris in November, but to be honest there is nothing open, its like a ghost town, you still get the odd bar open, and a few restaurants on the harbour. Maybe if your thinking about Turkey that time of year resorts around Antalya are open, but with limited facilitys. hope this helps

There are only a handful of places in Icmeler which stay open all year round, so it will be very quiet indeed. As jnesbitt says, the only place which really does all year round is the Antalya region with resorts such as Lara Beach.

Icmeler is dead in winter. Antalya is a much better bet, or if you want something different - try Istanbul. Amazing city, and you can forget all about xmas as well! Loads to see and do and very easy to get around.

I know that Bonjour Hotel is open all year round if you needed somewhere to stay but I would imagine it would be really really quiet. I would quite like to go just to see what it looks like. I've thought about going as early as Feb before just to see it. I think weather would be cold.

the Florida is open as well packed new years eve my friend said. Also the irish bar.We are going to Lara Beach xmas and new year

There was a review and photos posted at the start of the year from some one
who spent last xmas in Icmeler. I can remember seeing photos of them in
the Three Bells which had the xmas tree and decorations up, they seemed to
have had a good time.

Jimmy, xmas in icmeler. a lot depends on the individual, and the weather, daytime temps can be 23c/25, evening , well as soon as the sun goes down , a swift drop to 5c/8c, .
Walking around icmeler you will find most of the flowers still blooming, fruit trees ripening, everthing much the same as the holiday season, but without holiday maker,s, so it is very quiet, that is from the dogs barking, and farmyard calls.
Locals are now in there holiday season, weather permitting , out walking with there families, fishing, backgammon , taking it easy after a long working days of the summer.
Along the beach boats are being repaired, around the resort various building works, will be underway, and gardens . and palms trimmed.
There are a few bars/restaurants open, but no dancing waiters.
Tranquil , perfect for a relaxing break, i loved it, walk around icmeler, a stroll to marmaris , bit of shopping, join the locals for a spot of fishing.
A warning though, i have had a couple of xmas,s, the weather kind, blue sky,s and warm all my stay, i had to buy a coat for the evening. But it could have been RAINING.
Yes i would do xmas again.

Forgot to mention, i went alone, and the warmth of the local turkish community amazing, inviting me in for meals, drinks, more surprising , with little exchange of conversation, my turkish being little ,and my hosts about as good at english, but hey , we managed, and a good time had, and a few raki , we understood more.

Terry, sounds lovely. I did not think the temps would be as high as you have said but its well worth thinking about.
