Back two days my thoughts

Postby helsby » 17 Aug 2011 08:23

Came back the 15th not so much a review as just my thoughts.
Not been for 4 yrs so was brill to be back. Apart from canal nothing seemed to of changed in the resort! However agree with another post I felt that the personal touch in so many places we went had changed and become how much can we get out of each customer (please I understand all the arguments why this would be) I had not experienced this in our previous 3 visits. Shops bars restraunts and even the supermarkets wanting you to spend more.. I feel this was sad as the place is so special to our family.Went the Market ! I love it but I'm sorry grabbing my teenage daughter several times overstepped the Mark ( an I'm not stupid or soft ) so several stall holders well put in there place.. Still great bargains to be had tho just don't take a teenage daughter ?

Stayed at pinewood 1st to 15th brilliant, great boat trip none ice great quad via icr, best meal Robin hood not had a bad meal..family of four with set meals and drinks 35 to 45 quid!! Met Liverpool family spent great nights with them. Arranged to walk to flag then it went missing ? ( no it wasn't us scousers!)
All In all 9 out of 10 I hope next year when we return lessons could of been learnt by the people who make it special.

Seems like you had a nice time, shame about the market stall holders, I had this problem before with them forcing my son to go to their stall, but my son soon told them, one time two stall holders next to each other was fighting over him and arguing on where he should go. You should of climbed the flag regardless as it's a nice view at the top anyway.

Sad but yes did go the gym alot hence the long faces from my 16yr old twins.. Boring boring dad was thrown at me on many occasions.. Yes pinewood is brill hope you also had a good time ? But just felt that alot of places we went it was a sales pitch after a sales pitch and we had not experienced that on previous visits.. Still going back next year though lol

We're still here helsby and agree with you - think perhaps that it's just a blip maybe out of desparation to get people to spend money?? what with Aegean, AI, exchange rate etc, I can totally understand it. Have to say though that when I've felt I'm being put under pressure, I gently point out that we're suffering too - not had a pay rise in 3 years.

I also took the decision this year not to be as free and easy with tipping as I usually am, and also to check bills more than I usually would. So far, I've managed to save quite a bit compared to usual

A few years ago someone actually pointed out to me how much I was actually tipping over the two week holiday. I used to tip every time I paid a bill, even just for two bottles of water.

Nowadays I just leave a tip after a meal, or if we have had several drinks in the same bar. Saves quite a bit over the course of two weeks.
