Holiday timing & weather advise

Postby Blyth Spirit » 12 Aug 2011 19:57

Had planned we'd return to Icmeler next June, cooler for wife & Euro's footy on for me, but struggling to get time off and wife is suggesting May but I'm wary of the weather.

No doubt plenty of people have been in may, can anyone advise on what the weather will be like say last week in May and will it be quite at that time of year.

Normally May is a lovely time to go to Icmeler however this year it was a little mixed, with cloud, rain, thunder and lightning. I was there on 23 May and we had the lot in that week but this was very unusual. It was more like the weather you get there in April. The following week it started to get back to normal temperatures for that time of year. Fraid it's a chance you have to take wherever you go these days.

Chris

PS: I dont think Icmeler has been that busy the last few years and many restaurant and bar owners will say the same. So I think its safe to say that it will be fairly quiet

We always celebrate our anniversary in Icmeler last week in May First in june and as stated above this year was a bit changeable 1st week , but temps still reached mid 30s, saying that previous 5 years we,d only seen one nights rain.at that time(which locals seemed to take as a joke), great time to go as most places just opening and everyone looking forward to the new season.Rog.

We went on 26th May and the first 3 days were absolutely awful - see pics I posted (you need to scroll down to see the 'awful' ones)

But after the first 3 days, the weather was glorious. As said in other posts its a chance you take...but not one I'll be taking again if I can help it. I'd rather wait till June to go.

I've been in May before and the weather was fantastic, hot enough for sunbathing but not too hot where you don't want to do anything.
Obviously nothing can guarantee you good weather, it's just pot luck but I'd definitely not let it put me off going that early again :-)

I usually go anytime after 15th May and weather has always been great apart from this year, therefore I have booked for 28th May next year and hopefully weather will be fine. As others say you take your chance but it didn't spoil our holiday this year. Hope it works out for you whatever date you book. Icmeler is great whatever the weather. :D :D
