half empty planes etc don't think Onur Air would want to follow.

But Aegean were the agents for Onur so if what you are saying is true and there is a reduction in passenger numbers then Onur will go bust???????? There will still be half empty planes if they are still operating. Aegean/Holidays 4 u going bust will not fill the remaing planes that ARE flying. BTW, all are Charter airlines unless you pay much much more for Scheduled.

Chocoholic Aegean was booking agents for Holidays4u who charted the planes for there package holidays, so Aegean were selling surplus seats that Holidays4u did not need. 200 seater plane bookings likely for 100 packages from Holidays4u sell the other 100 via Aegean, trouble was bookings were down so they started combining flights to try and fill planes but still could not make it pay.
Onur air have about 31 planes they already in December 2010 sent 2 planes to Egypt and setup a new airline to address the drop in charter traffic to Turkey during the winter months.
It took six months to set up the new company so to do so in the UK would probably take the same time, they are a Turkish company so can not just set up in the uk overnight, all the charter license were with Holidays4u, tax ,landing fees, customs etc
They will lease or charter the planes to other companies and hopefully survive that big plane with Thomas cook on is not there plane it is just leased to them when the lease is up that aircraft could then be Swissair etc

Onur Flights

Postby bikerjambo » 05 Aug 2011 18:23

Does anyone know if someone else has taken over the mantle of selling flights for them now that Aegean has gone?

Can't answer your specific question. However I have just found the exact flights that I had originally booked through Aegean that I no longer have, being resold through Thomas C**k flights - even has the same flight number - but I now have to pay £520 each x 3 for the privilage vs my original £175 x 3. This is disgusting - surely something has to be done about this.

Blimey Choco, you nearly gave me a heart attack - here's me in Icmeler, solo with 15 year old daughter trying to stay positive and then I read your first post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to order a large Efes and then read on to see that it's only Aegean who've gone under!

We're having a great time and thank goodness, the rumour mill seems to have ground to a halt so we can enjoy the rest of our stay and I just keep checking CAA site daily...............

no worries choco - I'd already got over the shock once when we first found out about Aegean, except the person who told us was [wrongly] adamant it was Onur itself!!! wasn't the best news to get, especially as it was after midnight hahaha

have to say that it's not affecting our hol in the least and we're having an amazing time!! It was 39 today in the middle of Icmeler, felt a lot hotter though even with the nice breeze........................

Aegean Flights

Postby georgiegirl58 » 11 Aug 2011 13:06

So happy to read that so many people who were affected by the Aegean flights collapse have managed to re-book their holiday. It was terrible last year when my sister had booked with Goldtrail and then with Kiss so I know how devastating it is. We managed to get her a flight so that her holiday went ahead as planned. Hope everyone has a great holiday. :D I've still got 14 sleeps but then look out Icmeler here we come. 8)

Not yet Mary, am working on daughter though!!! Was very close today, but ended up at Florida instead - her choice and though I enjoyed it, she didn't.
Cost me £12 on way back to aparts for a Super Dry hoodie and am letting her have choice of where to go tonight, so I've VERY high hopes of making it to Nazar next week - esp as she was nodding off in Florida bar and it wasn't even noon hahaha
Will keep you posted

Oh and it was 42 degrees today with the most amazing breeze 8)

Hi all

I had booked my whole holiday through T***** R******** flights, accom and transfers to resort for the 21st of august for the family.... so u can imagine my horror when i found out that my flights had gone :( :(

I contacted the above only to be told that there was nothing they could do for me except book other flights... which by this time had doubled in price and i was getting quoted around £500 pp which i found rediculous, considering the whole holiday cost me £1250.00.

I eventually got my money back for the accom and transfers but have to wait like many others for my flight money (and i wonder how long that will take)??. Luckily my mum offered to lend me money to book another holiday so were off to benidorm now.

Will just have to wait til nx year for my turkey fix unfortunately its not icmeler tho.... im deflecting and going to gumbet....back to where i first fell in love with turkey.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO WISH ALL THOSE GOING TO ICMELER THIS YEAR A VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY AND SAFE TRAVELS
:D :D :D
