if they dont intend putting stalls back what about stocking it with good size various fish it would give some of the lads something to pass a bit of time on .just a thought .

I know I will be in a minority here but I`ll say it anyway.
Good riddance to them. All they did is hassle people even if you were just walking past. The also seemed to sell nothing but trash ie fake everything and the usual collection of bootleg CD`s and DVD`s. They also took up too much room on the pavement and I think its right that they were moved to a new location,

I used to buy pashminas from the lady along there and they were excellent quality and value....I am not aware of a new location that they were moved to. We only walked near there once this year so I think the restaurants and bars down there will be losing a lot of custom...hence Collettes post but as I am not a facebook member I cant sign the petition anyway.

While I was there in June, we walked past the Golden Moon restaurant onto the front where the cash machines are, what a lovely sight, there was market stalls set up and people browsing and buying ! Good luck to them It was a joy to see.Dont know how long it will last, but it was quite busy, think it was a Sunday evening !

hi Colette would this be the Majestic Restaraunt or the new aparts they have, I have only eaten in the majestic once 2yrs ago so dont know any of the staff... I thought jan would be female

i have two friends who i have known for many years now, they used to have stalls at the canel, and now have shops in the town,
they both said to me out of 68 stalls down the canel only 8 of the stalls paid any taxes,the council did warn them 5 years ago what might happen, but they still refused to pay.

hence no canel stalls this year.

Thats what I heard in June, I hope they come back the place looks scruffy and unloved.
