When Thinking Of A Holiday

21 Jul 2011 15:30

Just wondering how every one feels when its time to book your holiday. Reason I ask is because when my kids said 3 weeks ago , Dad we want to go on hols next year , the first thought in my mind was Icmeler. Nowhere else even got a split second of a thought , straight away it was Icmeler , and happy to say there was not one argument among the family about going back for the third time. What a magical place it is. Anyone else ever debate where to go or is it Icmeler. On our first visit we met a woman from London at our apartments and while having a drink with her she told us she had been all over the world on hols but this was her first time in Icmeler. Needless to say she stated she would never go anywhere else again , it would be Icmeler everytime.

This is our 18th visit, and it feels as if it is our first visit again. It just has that magic feeling, and I am yet to find out why, but there is obviously something there to pull all of us back year after year. I think the hols get better every year. Personally I would not think about going anywhere else in the world, as I would be be thinking about Icmeler constantly. Why change if you get what you want in Icmeler. Many people tell me the same thing year after year, "why go back". Well I answer, "we get what we want and there is no place on earth like it". I'm sure some people think I am crazy, but tough what the hell. We live and breathe the place.

Six days to go!!!!!

Funnily enough, hubby and I have just been having this conversation. We're hoping to book another week's holiday towards the end of September/October - and because we've been to Icmeler so many times now, he keeps saying maybe we should go somewhere else...then we usually end up saying "but what if it's not as good as Icmeler?"
We would like to visit other resorts in Turkey - but we're just worried that we'll keep comparing them to Icmeler.

I have to admit it, I am the same. As soon as I start thinking about taking a holiday, I immediately think of icmeler. Whether it be with a friend, family or by myself, I just know where I'll be heading. My colleague asked me the other day.... what's your holiday plans for next year? I replied, well Icmeler for starters. I don't ever bore of the place as there are always new places to explore. I do tend to stay in the Old Village area and will always do that and might even stay at the same apartments more than once. But to eat out, there are so many different places to try that you can never tire of them. Again though, I do tend to pop back to my fave eateries as I have made friends there and somehow dinner is so much better when your having a banter with the waiters!!

I love icmeler and I see it as my little oasis. Though I love to recommend places to everyone and will 'big up' Turkey all the time to people I know. I never want to tell people about Icmeler, how mean of me!!

Well I was supposed to be in Turunc for 7 days in June, out of my 14 days. We only stayed there for 4 days and had a taxi boat to Icmeler on one of these days.

Only Icmeler for me now.

Its the first place that I think of every year BUT..... the other half wanted a change this year so she convinced me (got to be fair i suppose) to go somewhere else. I still managed to swing Turkey but we are going to Olu Deniz. Never been there before so hopeing we havent made a mistake! Icmeler will be such a hard act to follow. :(

... when thinking of a holiday... of course first thing that comes to my mind is Icmeler! Went to Marmaris 2007 and since then always to Icmeler. Have already converted some of my friends to Icmeler lovers as well... I don't know what magic there is, but we just fell in love with Icmeler and have to return there every summer. Having spent again 4 weeks there this summer (which was not enough :D ), I'm already counting the days for next summer holiday ( 317 days to go...) and try to find a way to persuade my boss to give me 6 weeks off next summer....

I Agree with you 100%

Up until I went to Turkey, I never went back to the same place twice. Then a friend and I went to Marmaris. We loved it, and went back several times, then we started having days out in Icmeler. For the last 6 years, it's all we can do to pay Marmaris a day visit. We've been to Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum, Gumbet and Kusadasi, but we always end up back in Icmeler. We always said when we got bored with it, we would go somewhere else. It hasn't happened yet! It's like going home. I can walk down the road and meet more people I know than I do at home.

Having read through all the posts I have to agree about the magic which pulls us back. I have convinced my neice and her daughter to go with us next year and i know she will be converted. I agree with the friends thread as well , I have made friends with some lovely people on our previous visits and i know when i go in to the supermarket/shop i use when there I will be greeted with Hello my friend. Such friendly people and such a beautiful place to visit. I think that as a family man thats what swings it for me. The friendleness and the safe feeling I get for the family when in Icmeler and as stated in other threads I had a bit of a fright 2 years ago when my son took ill but the local shop keeper helped me and all was well.Needless to say that in my eyes he will be a friend for life for what he did for my son. Anyway Spain Keep it , Portugal nope , America , dont think so. Icmeler , Turkey Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!

My family went to Spain for 4 days in Feb and the weather was hot during the day and chilly at night,we spent most days on a glorious ( pure sand) beach and nights sampling Tapas, we all enjoyed it and had a good time and when we got home we asked our kids if they enjoyed it....They all said yes, they enjoyed the beach and food but they like Icmeler better.

We went to Portugal in June for 4 days and we went to the Aqua marine and water park... the same reply from the kids...yes they enjoyed it but something missing.

We tell the kids at the end of June we are going back to Icmeler and they jump for joy.
We ask them what the difirrence is and they say free bread ,free ice creams ,we never have to get taxis its a dolmus and everyone speaks to you and we like watching michael jackson.. .
my kids are like all kids they like having fun,and they can feel the spirit that Icmeler glows.
We all know that if the kids are happy then the mum and dad are happy :) .

point being my kids talk about Icmeler and not the aquapark or theme park or golden sand beaches that other countries have, and they have tried both.

Sorry for talking so long.

A few years back after the "do you think we should try somewhere else for a change" discussion we went to the canaries - needless to say the OH hated every minute of it and we have been back in icmeler every year since. Just back last week asked the kids would they like to try Florida next year but - thank god - they have said "no - back to icmeler" so hopefully will be back again next year it never fails to deliver.

mks - Olu Deniz is a beautiful place and I am sure you will enjoy it. A few years ago we did Olu Deniz for a week and then travelled over to Icmeler for a week so we still got our fix :D
