Icmeler Bargains

20 Jul 2011 06:57

I'm interested to know what people buy in Icmeler to bring home.

I can't wait to hit the market for spices, grains and other food stuffs that I can't buy in England (or not where I live anyway), I've already paid for extra luggage allowance to cover it, lol!

While I was thinking of all the goodies I plan on buying it got me wondering what everyone else looks forward to treating themselves to.

I'm with you, janey - I like buying spices and stuff that I can't get over here, as well as stuff like apple tea and so on. Not really much of a shopper, to be honest, but I do like buying that type of thing.

Hi blondie, as you bring back similar things to me can I ask if you've brought meat and cheese back as hand luggage before? We've not had any reason to in the past 5 or 6 years but seeing as we're coming to Turkey I know I'll be wanting to bring some sucuk and white cheese for definite. I always used to with no problem but I'm wondering if there's any restrictions with taking fresh food now?

I'm with everyone regarding handbags, I have so many but can always find more that I MUST have, lol!

I was going to buy a new bag to go away with but I think I'll save my money for the market.

Am I right in thinking there's a Sunday market now in Icmeler as well as the Wednesday one?

Do you still have to be quite an aggressive barterer to get the good deals?

Sorry janey, I've always stuck to stuff like spices etc - never tried bringing meat or cheese back. I know you're not supposed to bring stuff like that into Turkey, but plenty of people do it, so I think I would take a chance and risk it.

We always buy bags, t-shirts, spices, turkish delight, olive oil soaps and of course Dalan Olive Oil Moisturizing Cream (have to get lots of it, as it's not sold in Finland!)

I buy nothing - I'm a bloke. My better half however - well thats a different story. Shoes, shoes, shoes, silver - in all forms, rings bracelets etc. Oh! and did I mention Shoes!!!!! Don't think I can think of anything else other than shoes & silver. Better stop now and look out of the window at the cloud and rain - I might not live long enough to see it again.
