Venice restaurant show

In the resort, but leaving tomorrow have been to the Venice for many years now and enjoyed the food and entertainment but the latest offering is a bit strange. Does anyone else feel puzzled after watching the floor show of what appears to be 3 guys in children's play tunnels moving about ??? Seemingly they were a big hit on the Turkish tv version of Britains got Talent - unfortunately wasn't a hit with me or the other diners we were with - anyone else seen this show ??? Jacqui x

hmmm, can't say I fancy that! We've had some great times in the Venice, but to us it seems to have lost its pull over the last couple of years. With the market stalls gone and this latest report, I don't think we'll be in a rush to head down there this year ..................
Is Hamish there this year? Or Samir? Lee?

I thought that the idea of a resturant was to serve quality food? Surely the entertainment is an added bonus and free. I know that they keep trying different things to keep it fresh, perhaps this act was not a success. If it isn't a success they will get rid of it and do something else. The Venice is without doubt one of a number of quality venue's in Icmeler and to dismiss it out of hand for such petty reasons is disengenuious in the least. And no I am not affiliated to the Venice or any other establishment in Icmeler.

Hi David, you are perfeclty entitled to your views of my post, however i find your comments of me being "disingenuous" to be insulting. I respect rather than judge others and hope for the same in return.

We have spent a large amount of time over the last 10 years in the Venice and it's simply not the same for us as it was. For us, the staff and atmosphere they had a few years ago is a long way from where it is now and we don't feel the food or service are what they were - again, just our opinion to which we are entitled. Quite simply, we'd rather spend our money elsewhere. That's not to say it's awful, it's just not for us any more.

I fully agree that "the idea of a resturant was to serve quality food" and for me those places are the likes of Wayside, Selam, Lal etc where a "show" isn't part of the night out. Places that have entertainment, especially down along the canal or eg the Harmony charge more than places elsewhere to cover the location and entertainment, so IOHO it's not "free entertainment" We work hard all year for a couple of weeks away, and over the past couple of years, the venice has lost its sparkle for us - no more, no less

They do try new things all the time, once when I was there for 2 weeks they had all rubbish shows, but Firat / Fred said they were trialling new ones.

Venues change staff and idea's and people who only go, once, twice or 3 times a year expect the same and get dissapointed.

I spent time in there this year, and apart from Firat and Lee didn't know anyone, and it wasn't the same, but it was still as good, just different.

You have to remember, that the places along the canal have lost a LOT of business this year with the stalls being removed and need to try new stuff to bring people in, unfortunately it fell in your 2 weeks there.

Venice lost it's sparkle for me when Tiger left, but it's still a great place and Firat and Murat try hard to bring new ideas. Now if they had Jacko and the Robot man every night you would moan.

Totally agree with you Colette - it's not been the same for us since Tiger left either, he and Hamish used to have such a good banter going, so suppose it's a hard act to follow for some of us??
Really hope they manage to keep busy this season and that Sam manages to pay them a visit for a few weeks? It'd be worth suffering MJ for that haha
No doubt we'll spend at least one night down there, just because we "do" every year

We visited Venice last month and was disappointed this year,no new acts,just Jacko and Leon the juggler.Service was still good,but food wasnt,new chef and new menus,I tried the Venice special which was beef wellington,struggled to chew the meat so tough !.There was lots of empty tables,never seen that before.

We do go to Venice now and again, as the food is usually good, but when we went in may we were very disappointed. It was edible at best, and the service was very slow. We've never thought much of the entertainment and leave before it starts. Unfortunately, the service being so slow, we had to sit through the first half hour, and it was awful. I think we'll give it a miss in september.

Re comments made after I posted the thread, I would agree with some of the comments. Like others the Venice is only one of the many bars/restaurants we visit to eat and drink in when we are in Icmeler, but i would agree that it was quieter last week and there were quite a few empty tables, which i have not seem very often over the years we have been going. The staff are as usual very helpful and the "old" regulars are back, ie Lee, Samir, Mustapha, Joseph, Bilal. The menu seems to have been updated, but often doesn't translate to what you actually get on your plate. We ordered Foccacia as a starter and a pizza arrived? The entertainment does need a revamp i feel, its fine if you have never been before. Michael Jackson, Leon juggling and Lee on the bar are all still their thing. Saying all this i will still return, but i do think it has lost a little of its sparkle and would say that i think they are aware it has. Jacqui
