ANY RETURN FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS ?

Postby turkey_bird » 27 Sep 2006 20:00

 Dont know where the thread went, so I opened a new one to ask if anyone can tell me whether they have handbaggage restrictions on the return journey from Dalaman. Just want to know if you can still have handbaggage at 5kg, and also if you can take liquid....i.e. pop, moisturiser, sandwiches past the check in ??? Dalaman charge such extortionate prices

Hiya hun
I got back on Monday.... they are weighing the suitcases and that at Dalaman but didnt ask us if we had any hand luggage, but i presume it is the same still 5kg.

I didnt want to risk taking anything through check in so packed most things, but had bottles of water in my bag, nothing was said.
I know its not much help sorry

 Thanks for your quick reply. It helps a bit, but maybe other people reading this will know more. That 5kg hand luggage helps towards bringing turkish goodies home

We had plenty of bottles of water and nobody even looked twice at them. Also our cases coming home were over the weight limit and they never said anything about that either.

In May (at old airport) I had a holdall for hand luggage which was weighed and I was told it was too heavy. I removed the water we had for use while waiting and was told that was Ok as it was not going onto the plane. (the issue was with the weight, not that it was liquid)

In August (at the new airport) we did not take any hand luggage due to the restrictions on the way out. However we did see other people getting theirs weighed.

It was Onur Air. Luckily most of the weight was water we had for the wait at the airport and once we showed that we were OK.
On that day they were doing the same with everyone. They may have just been having a bad day but it's worth thinking about.
Like I say, I can't comment on the new airport as most people had no handluggage to to the restrictions on the way out.

Bob

With most charter flights a 5kg hand luggage weight restriction is applied to customers comming out from the uk and returning to the uk from Dalaman ,as well as restrictions on the size of the hand luggage. It is not unusual at Dalaman airport for them to weigh your case and ask for your hand luggage to be placed on top for weighing also. All of the airlines were alot stricter on this last year and if your hand luggage looks too big they will also not allow it as hand luggage and this will have to be checked in. Depending on the checkout desk, you may be charged also excess baggage.

What hand luggage can I take onboard?

Only one small piece of hand luggage per person weighing under 5kgs (11lbs - maximum size 45cm by 35cm by 20cm) may be taken onboard the aircraft.

Is this good enough !! or would you like me to find others.Although when you do go the link that redhino has put in they are conflicting because they say 10kg on that site. But i think you asked for just one so hope this helps

Very true Bob

We had the misfortune to have to come back to Manchester via Gatwick in Sept, and as they'd let us on at Dalaman with whatever we chose to carry with us, we then had to put all our liquids and prohibited sutff in our cases - apparently, they couldn't let us stay on the plane on the runway at Gatwick carrying all of this contraband in the cabin, so we had to get off the plane and collect our cases, then check in for Manchester.

The Captain told us it was due to the current security levels lol We all decided though that they'd simply not split the Gatwick cases from the Manchester cases before leaving Dalaman?!?
