Great holiday

Postby shastie » 20 Sep 2006 19:54

Had a fab holiday in August, only just sat down to report on it. Stayed at the Devamli and it was excellent - ages 50 50 49 46 16 15. Staff really helpful and friendly in the Sports Bar, part of the hotel(Mustapha and Speedy especially). Food in the Love Boat, again part of the hotel was so good we ate there quite a lot and got 10% off for being residents. For chocolate lovers the choc souffle with raspberry sauce was to die for and the fish baked in salt was exceptional, but if you decide to try it you have to order the day before (ask the price before you book it because we had quite a shock when the bill came - but it was worth it). We booked a leg of lamb in the Majestic Boys which was brilliant. When we arrived they had decorated the table especially and the service was great. We were a bit worried about reports of hassle in Icmeler before we went but we didn't get hassled, just friendly banter now and again passing the bars and restaurants. The only bad experience we had was in the Tiger Bar where after settling the bill, which was a big one, and after accepting a complementary drink from the waiter, they brought the big bill again and said we hadn't paid it. We prefer to think that it was a genuine mistake rather than a rip off. Needless to say we refused to pay twice and left. We went on the Jeep Safari which was great fun although we were wet through all day. The Water Park on the beach in Marmaris was small but a good day out. One word of warning though because the lifeguards weren't really on the ball and they let people go down the slides too quickly. A few children were hurt with people landing on top of them in the water.
Now we're back at work the holiday feels like it was months ago, not just weeks. Can't wait to return next year and would definately recommend Icmeler and the Devamli to anyone.

Glad to here you had a fantastic holiday ... the food in the Love Boat is absolutely top notch! Even though we only went there 1 night in August, it was gorgeous! Hope you're all ready for booking next year now :D

Hi Shastie we stayed at the Devamli in August we were there from the 6th August till the 20th August, which weeks were you there. I agree with you the waiters were fantastic there were some new ones this year as we stayed there last year, Ice and Freddy are from last year and they remembered us from last year which was nice, but the new waiters Mustafa, Speedy and Michael are all new and we had a right laugh with them. We have booked to go again next year, have you? If you have we will have to have a drink with you. We have two kids 8 and 6 and our friends which went with us have a 15 year old lad.

Hi Clare. Sorry for the late reply. Our holiday was late July early August and we flew home on the 6th of August so we probably passed you as you were checking in. We were the ones with the sad faces. We haven't booked for next year yet because we haven't had our holiday leave confirmed, but we will be booking for the Devamli again as soon as we can. We have a Turkish restaurant in the town where we live and we were there last night for a lovely meal and a few Efes. Just brought back memories of our lovely holiday. The chef is from Alanya.
