Clarification needed on the visa position please

27 Jun 2011 08:54

Hiya

I'm struggling to find any definitive information online, wondered if someone could help. With the visa changes last year that don't really seem to have changed all that much, I'm wondering if we need another £10 visa when we arrive on 8th July or not.

I did think that the "new" visa means you can visit a total of 90 days in a 180 period, and I thought this covered multiple visits during that time. We were in Icmeler for a week from 20th May - got the visa on the way in as we always have done, and it was stamped on the way out as normal. So, my question is, do we need to get another one when we arrive on 8th July, or will the one we got in May cover this visit too?

Many thanks :D

My understanding is that visa lasts for 3 months so I would have thought you would be covered on same one when you go back-perhaps JT could clarify

As long as your arrival and departure dates falls within the 90 day preiod on your existing visa you should be ok.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still confused - one site says yes, multiple entry, then another says no, you have to pay again. Hope I can get a definite before 8th, I know a tenner isn't much, but it's at least a couple of Efes extra!

The old visa used to say 90 Day Multi Entry

The New visa says 90 and 180 days however the actual rules have not yet changed but the new stickers are still being used.

Your visa was issued on the 20th May, you can make as many visits currently on that visa as long as you depart by midnight on the 18th August (90 days) on your last visit. If you need absolute 100% clarity I would telephone or email the Turkish consulate in London.

Ordinary British passport holders require tourist visa to enter Turkey. They can obtain a three months multiple entry sticker type visa at the port of entry in Turkey for £10

edited to add - disclaimer, don't take my maths as correct, calculate 20-May + 90 days for yourself to make sure.

Maybe one of you lovely people can advise me about visa's too please? I want to have an extended holiday in Icmeler next year. I would like to rent an apartment and stay anything from three months to possibly one year. Now, what do I do visa wise?

Can I stay on a tourist visa for 90 days, go back to uk to visit and then come back for another 90 days and keep on going like that for up to a year? Which would be a cheaper option, because if I understand things correctly it's cheaper to rent an apartment for a year, rather than doing a holiday let for a few months at a time, Or do I have to apply for a residents permit? I have posted this on another thread, but I think it got burried! :? So please forgive me for repeating myself.

Any advice would be appreciated. I really love Icmeler and I would like to come over next year and try out living there to see if it really does suit me. Well that and the fact it would be a good place for me to have my mid life crisis!

I just reponded to your other tread.

For a year a residency permit is the way to go.

I can clarify that it does completely cover you as long as your arrival date and departure date are within the 90 days. I did it myself, you just by-pass the visa desk when you arrive and show the relevant stamped page at passport control and its fine. You won't get a smile off the staff at the desk LOL but it is fine to do, honestly. :D

Thanks so much Sami. I've never had a smile of the passport fella's ever, so guess it really is a totally normal thing to do!

8 and a bit sleeps and I'll be bypassing that visa queue! Can't wait :D
