as with any hotel or apartment anywhere your taking a risk by putting your valuables in a safe or leaving them in the room

But by using a safe there is less risk and also you may not be invalidating your insurance.

Stayed at the Palm Garden in 2008 safe is in wardrobe never had a problem, cost a tenner doubt thats changed as it seems the norm for a week, stayed at the Alvaro last year and going back this year toAlvaro and the safes there are in reception, never bothered me again, no problem. As for insurance, just take trav cheques you're covered regardless by the company who supply them anyway, insurance wise about safes in room or reception I'd imagine that's a minefield if the worst happened.

My insurance states the following:-

What is not covered

Loss, theft of or damage to valuables left unattended at any time unless deposited in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or left in your locked accommodation.

Loss, theft of or damage to personal money or your passport or visa left unattended
at any time unless deposited in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or left in your locked accommodation.

As I am using a safe in my room which is locked when we are not there I should be covered.

dksbbs, reading the last line of your insurance, because your i.e. camera (wont fit in safe) is in your locked apartment, your covered against theft. or left in your locked accommodation.

I would agree but then again they would probably want evidence that the accommodation was locked i.e. photo of a damaged door or window. I would also check the amounts your covered for as cash not in a locked safe is proabably lower than the amount that is. These should be clearlystated on your schedule or the wording.

Hi Johnny, I have also stayed at palm gardens & as previous posts say the safes are in the wardrope in your room and never had any problems, pretty sure your valubles will be ok in the safe. It is quite a good size plenty of room for passports, travellers cheques, cash, camera, moblile phones & jewellery. Hope this puts your mind at ease, have a great holiday.
