Old Village

Postby juneflo » 12 Aug 2006 23:42

Don't know the Adler Apts - have you looked through the home page link to apartments - it might be listed there. There's a road from the main road that the dolmus (local, cheap minibus) runs up - from there to the foot of the mountains is about 25min walk - don't think Adler is that far up. Old Village has restaurants/bars/news/essentials shops and some clothes, souvenirs shops. Once you find your way from the Aparts to the shops and the centre you'll be OK. Old Village is quieter than the centre, especially at night as you can imagine. There's some previous posts on Old Village, have a look through the pages and I think I've seen something on Adler in the Guestbooks section.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it especialy if your aparts have got some entertainment for the kids.

Old Village

Postby moesha » 13 Aug 2006 10:26

Hi, we stayed at the Club Daystar apartments in the old village in June this year. It certainly was not quiet because we had thumping Ibiza music until 2.30 am most days and when we complained they weren't interested. But apart from them the old village is quieter than the centre as most places are when you are not centraly locted. We found that the centre was much quieter after midnight than where we were!

Most of them have been for sle for the past few years now but people don't want them as they have been crammed onto a smll piece of land and don't have room for a pool.

Imagine buying a house in Icmeler and not having a pool with it in this heat.

we have never stayed in the old village but think we will next year. there is nothing nicer than a lovely stroll through the old village, its so peaceful and the people who live there always have time to have a word with you even though we can't understand each other.
i like walking around icmeler centre but i think the old village beats it hands down on character.

Daystar

Postby juneflo » 13 Aug 2006 23:21

Moesha, I was at Club Daystar in June and a couple of nights when we got back there was music for those in the bar but not too excessive. The football was on when we were there and I think that took over some of the music. Like most places they try to set an atmosphere and music in many places is too techno for me. The guys in Daystar were great with us, most people had their own CD's and they played them with no need for persuasion. Birol even took to trying out a waltz to Tom Jones!!! Must admit he didn't quite get Daydream Believer with the added Peter Reid! That's an old one and only Newcastle supporters will appreciate it!

The Odl Village really is lovely, a smaller, quieter version of the main part of Icmeler within easy walking distance of the main street or to a dolmus stop if you want to go to Marmaris. It has plenty of shops, hotels, apartments, restaurants and bars itself, but the Old Village has the added charm of being where the Turkish people prefer to live too, so you can be walking down to get breakfast and see a family feeding their chickens! It's lovely.
Make sure you explore it all though, it's worth a good look around.
I hope you have a great time.

Hi all, i agree the old village is a great place to stay, you have the best of both worlds, somewhere nice and quiet for a stroll through village life and the advantage of not being to far away from the action if you need it , some great eating places are up at the old village namely ozzys, the dost, the bistro, ece, and many more its just a great place to stay. :D johnboy.

hi karen, stayed in the adler twice this year so far.clean basic apartments with a friendly pleasant staff who will keep most kids amused.good food and drinks at fair prices.a ten to fifteen minute walk to the town center or five minutes on the the dolmus.there is plenty of tours and boat trips and all the water sports you can think of.most of the entertainment is in the bars, but the adler does a very good turkish night and has occasional entertainment on other nights.we all enjoyed the adler and will go back

Private Apartment

Postby pughjenny » 04 Sep 2006 10:47

We have just bought an apartment in the old village, it is one of 4 apartments and has a very large pool and is built into the rock in the village of Icmeler - it is fantastic - going out in October to furnish it

old village

Postby Gerda » 20 Sep 2006 07:38

if you visite the old village, or if you are so lucky to buy property, and you would like to enjoy a nice meal in a quiet family atmosphere restaurant, go to rainbow, you find it on your left hand side when you walk from the traffic lights in the old village to the main road, only 50 m. The food is very good and the owners are turkish/english, very friendly people, just give it a try

OZZY PLACE

Postby Me » 20 Sep 2006 09:05

When you are in the old village you should visit Ozzys place. We have been going there since Ozzy bought it , after he left the Set restaurant. The food is wonderful ,my favourite is the peppered steak. My husband and girls love the fahitas. Ozzy is a great guy ,so friendly and all his family work with him. Word of warning though you might have to book a table because it is allways busy.
