Cafe del Mare Temple of Tranquility

Postby juicyjude » 05 Sep 2006 15:21

A while ago I posted a question about a little bar which hubby and I used to go to passed the Laguna hotel on the way to Marmaris but still in Icmeler. I wondered what it was called and I was told it was the Cappodocia. In fact it is called the cafe del mare a temple of tranquility. If you continue walking on the crazy paved area and keep to the left up a slight hill you pass the brothers bar. The next bar along is the cafe del mare, the views of Icmeler bar are breathtaking, and the staff are wonderfull and don't hassle you. You could stay all night with only one drink if that is what you want to do. It isn't on the road, as I said its on the crazy paved footpath. They have their own beach as well and will get you drinks and a meal to have on the beach during the day if thats what you want. There is just one thing though..................it is such a nice bar...............please keep it to yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cafe Del Mar, Formerly called The Black Rock, used to have a sign outside saying, "The Finest View In The Universe"
Only problem is there are no toilets on the premises and when you wanted the loo you had to walk back down the slope about 100yards to the public loo were you where obliged to pay for the use of the same.
Unless things have altered and they have put a toilet down the steps on the beach.

It is nice to sunbathe here the beds are free as long as you use the facilities of the cafe, and the views are stupendouse.

Yes gene they now have a single toilet down the steps to the beach, it's not quite up to the standard of the ritz, but it does the job.

Yes that's it. Just asked Alan and he said there is just one single toilet. I didn't know as I never used it myself. The dolmus doesn't go passed there. It is next to the "Brothers" Bar, on the crazy paved footpath, directly below the Cappadocia bar, vertically. The crazy paved area is pedestrianised. If you want a quiet drink in romantic surroundings, that's the place to go, or if you want to propose to the love of your life!!!!But as I said before, ssssh don't tell anyone, let's keep it between you and me  :D

Sssshhhh sssssshhh don't advertise this place too much - to me it's just a wonderful, peaceful heaven on earth!

Ooooh to think last week I was sitting there at 1am with someone special and a cold Efes listening to the gentle lapping of the sea and staring at the most beauitful view I have ever seen.

By the way if you use the one toilet there take some napkins/tissues with you - it's not great, but better than having to use the men's public loos up the road (couldn't ever fathom out why the ladies was always locked!)

You all make it sound so nice, I might just have to whisk a lady off her feet so I can experience it for myself ;)

Oh Mazz you must have been there the same time as me, we ended up there every night to get away from the hussle and bussle of the town. Oh and the coffee isn't bad either, and you get a good mug full, not a silly tiny cup!The staff are magic, aren't they. We used to practice our Turkish much to their amusement! Gule shois
