Twin Centre Holidays

Postby redrhino12 » 25 Mar 2011 13:28

Something feefee1970 wrote on HT made me wonder about the possibilities of the resort of Icmeler.
It can be a two in one resort, you have the lively town centre for those who like music singing etc, then we have the Old Village only half a mile away, but could be miles away with regards to the pace of life.
Which one will you choose this year?

We are finally going to the old village after many visits and looking forward to finding new bars and resting places from that searing heat :) went to go up last year in the evening and got as far as 3 Bells and stopped there for the night.

hi, if you have always stayed in icmeler town you might event venture into the old village. we didnt the first couple of times we went to icmeler.
Its far better staying in the old and having the best of both worlds.

last year we did two centre holiday staying in icmeler and then olu deniz a totaly different place with sky divers more relxed atmosphere but charming aswell, but also the most famous beach in icmeler on most front covers of travel brochures.

can beat two centre hols with taxi travel inbetween with ICR

see icmeler in september

I really fancy visiting Istanbul and have wondered about combining that with Icmeler as a two-centre holiday. Might have to give that some serious consideration...

I know, Dave - I've always fancied visiting Istanbul, but don't know if it would maybe be better to do it as a separate holiday rather than trying to combine the two, just because of the distance between them. Maybe one day...

Blondie

Do please try Istanbul. Me and the wife Zena have done the 2 centre holiday 3 times now. We stayed for 4 nights in Istanbul and 10 nights in Icmeler. If you like history and culture then Istanbul is absolutely full of this. From the famous Blue Mosque to the wonderful Spice Bazaar. The city is mesmorising. We found Istanbul to be reasonably cheap.....compared to the likes of, say, London. Why have we done it 3 times? Well 4 nights is not long enough to see all that Istanbul has to offer and we deffo wanted at least 10 nights in Icmeler. So that done, we had to return the next year to see more. The 3rd time was to take my mum, just to show her what a fantastic city Istanbul is.

I know JT would be more than happy to make arrangements for you (He's like that); Flight time from Istanbul to Dalaman is 2Hrs. I might add that we were able to do the 2 centre holiday including the internal flights for the same price as 14 nights self catering in Icmeler alone. We stayed on a b&b basis in Istanbul and SC in Icmeler.

Any more info......just ask away

We have stayed in the old village for the last few years, and its nice to have a quiet night roaming around the old village, then its usually a livelier night down in the town the following night.

This year we are splitting it with Icmeler and Turunc - really looking forward to that now. If I get homesick for Icmeler, its only a short drive back

We are staying in the old village this year so we finally get to see it properly have had wee walks up but can't wait to see it all :)

Have also done a couple of two centres which obviously included Icmeler once with Calis and second time in Ovacik/Hisaronu enjoyed doing the two resorts. Possibly a few days in Turunc this time to see the place at night and break up the 3 weeks.

Thanks, Cummo - that sounds exactly like the type of thing I was thinking about. Will have to have a wee chat to JT about in when we're over in June, I reckon!
