I have read the same thing, it must have been on here. I certainly will sign a petition to keep the stalls there- I love them. It wont be the same strolling along the canal without the stalls, why change things when they are obviously so popular? More bars are not needed as some existing ones are struggling for custom as it is.

Hi, we were talking to a stall holder at the canal in October and he said that they were moving the stalls to up by the market, and it was the local turkish people that lived by the canal that were complaining about them being there, if they move them up there they will do very little trade, maybe people that have been there before will know where to find them, but newcomers wont, feel sorry for them and it will ruin the atmospher of the canal

One thing Mrs smc4761 likes to do on holiday is browse in the shops and as many on here will testify this is not something that we can easily do in Turkey. She has found though that the canal stall holders do tend to let people browse and are not too over bearing. As a result Mrs smc4761 will tend to take her time, browse and she will buy things if she is not harrased. Hopefully the canal stalls will still be there when we go in May

We were told by several stall holders in October last year that the stalls were going this year...mind you, they told us this the year before as well. Don't think that they know what is happening either really. It would be a shame for them to go as not only is it lovely to stroll along the canal after meals and chat with the different stall holders, with whom we have made several friends with, but the goods are great too. It wouldn't be the same without them. One lady who sells childrens dressing gowns told us that the Council are wanting them to move further into the centre of Icmeler where the shops are, but as she said, the rents are so high there that they wouldn't be able to survive :(

Agree with other posters, very pleasant walk after meal and between drinks, wifey spends a fair few YTL down there.
To lose it would be areal shame as it is part of Icmelers charm - put me down for the petition.

If he's the same man who used to say, "Luvly Jubbly" we remember him and often wonder whatever happened to him.

There was an apple pie man/woman on that same spot last year.

The original luvvly jubbly apple pie man was selling his stuff between the Letoile and Efendi hotels last year
