Flight Tax Increase

Heard this on BBC Breakfast this morning, it certainly was arriving under my radar from 1st November.
They where quoting quite heavy increases for a family of 4 going to Florida potentially £240.00.

Done a bit of checking on the wonderfull web this morning and it would appear us Icmeler lovers are lucky that the Turkey tax increase is from £11 to £12 just £1.

The journeys are going to be banded and Turkey is in Band A the lowest (same as Spain) as the distance is under 2000 miles.

worth checking out for other destinations. as some are going up by over 50%

I was looking at the same thing this morning, I'm wondering whether we get extra bills from our travel agents or whether this had been costed into the flight costs as the change was announced in the April budget I believe.

I did note that the T&C's of my agent state that surcharges will be levied due to any government tax changes, not sure they will bother for £1 per person though.

I am pretty certain the tax (robbery) increase is for flights booked after the 1st November 2010.
Another tax on things people enjoy. Perhaps we should reclassify all these sort of tax's ie, beer, cars etc,
should be called joy tax.

flights are expensive as enough as it is especially from scotland where the choice can be limited

I knew that this was coming, so I booked my flights for 2011 last week and paid almost £200.00 less than this year as an early booker, rather than a late booker this year.

My only worry is that the VAT increase in January will be passed on, although my gain will also compensate for this and no doubt the £15.00 that I got back from Tommy C for not honouring my pre-booked seats at Dalaman will also help. What an awfy nice man he is

There is no VAT on flight tickets, the only VAT you will pay is on the Agents fee.
