I know the title sounds silly, but last year, there was a beautiful dog walking aroung
Icmeler and playing on the beach, who had had his ears cut off (probably so no one could tag him). Such a friendly fella, and very playfull in the sea (he wouldn't let you out once you were in:)). Has anyone who has been there this year seen him?

You are another wicked one Bill
Seriously though, last year he gave us hours of laughs. Once you were in the sea, try getting out! He thought it was a great game to chase you back in when you were trying to get out. We were trapped for ages and had to call my hubby to distract him whilst we legged it up the beach

just back this morning and my wife and daughter wanted to visit the dogs home,we did this on the 3rd day of holiday,it took a bit of finding, past Tommys bar and stay on road then forked upto the left past a apartments called Pinar and behind that is a a factory the home is up a bank at the side.
We said we had seen the home on the forum ,took a couple of bags of bones and she gave us 5 dogs to take out for a walk.
This was a challenge with 5 very well behaved dogs who were over excited at getting out for a walk.
There was about 25 dogs in the home with the smaller ones(still big) kept in seperate pounds to the large(BIG) dogs, she explained that they get some help with food for the large dogs from the council but nothing for the smaller dogs. They have all had injections and have plenty room for moving around and kennels built for sleeping in,
they are struggling to find cover now the sun is getting intense and old sails and umbrellas are required from any local source.
We enjoyed the venture and walked them for about a hour making sure we found the watering taps in the village.
Did not see the dog with no ears although there was a german shepherd with a leg missing but looked happy and healthy.
Most of the dogs have been in accidents and left ,a few dumped at the home but the lady running the home seems dedicated to her job and needs help from somewhere in terms of conrtributions or walkers.
Walking at this time of the year will now be a problem with the heat but if you like dogs its worth a walk up for a chat.

I feel so sorry for these dogs. Why do people take on a dog, or cat, if they can't look after them. To cut a dogs ears of is terrible. The poor dog must have been in agony. It is nice to know that there are homes that take these abandoned pets in and give them love and affection...which is all they ask for at the end of the day. Whilst we are in Icmeler, we will most definitly try and find this home and pay them a visit. It would be lovely to take one or two of these poor little (or big) souls for a walk, and will be quite willing to leave a donation. The people running the home are doing a brilliant job.

Thank you Jan for the update on Bear. He is such a beautiful dog...we wish that we could bring him back to England with us. He must have had gone through a terrible ordeal bless him.
How can people treat animals in this way? We have a problem in England, and sometimes people leave litters of puppies in carrier bags by the roadside, or even just throw them out of cars and leave them to fend for themselves. They should be shot.
We would love to come and visit the home and bring some treats when we come...certainly on our to do list.
Photo's would be lovely. Thanks again Jan

Hi Jan. Can you tell me where you are exactly, or have you a contact number as we would like to come and visit when we come out in October. When you say doggie treats do you mean food or toys?
Thank you

The dog house is past Tommy's bar in the Old Village - walk straight on past that til you get to the Pinar Factory, and the House is next door. "copied from another thread"
We went there 3 times but never got in to deliver our treats. Back again in September so will take them then. The easiest way i can explain is to get into the old village where the dry canal is and turn right following the canal which leads you out towards club aquarium and Tommys bar. As you pass Tommys you keep following the road round and you will see a sign for the Pinar factory on your left. If you go up that little road you will see the dogs on your right.
Take a look at this map and look for Club Aquarium - Hope this helps and have fun with the dogs. I have got 3 - some pics in the non
icmeler photo thread - take a peek. Mark.
