Marmaris v Icmeler Forum

Postby dotty » 04 Aug 2006 11:59

Can't help noticing that the Marmaris forum isn't as popular as the Icmeler one - wonder why? There hasn't been any new posts or replies on Marmaris forum since 1st August, yet there's replies and posts on Icmeler every few minutes. Need I say more!

This was my first visit to turkey and we stayed in marmaris. We had friends in icmeler and always got the bus there. I much prefered icmeler. Its much more friendly and the guys dont hassle you as much there for some reason. I found it very difficult to find my way about marmaris too. So Id def say icmeler is better :) :)

We've decided that next week when we are in Icmeler we are going to walk to Marmaris early----ishhhhh morning and spend the day there and then walk back later in the afternoon, though the girls have been once for 45 minutes that's how long it took them to cross the Road by the Statue well this put them off Marmaris {they jumped back onto the boat and str8 back to Icmeler lol} :D

I too find Marmaris to navigate, and because of the hassle a friend of mine nicknamed it Smarmaris. I adore Icmeler, and all it has to offer!

I too, like icmeler much better but i think marmaris is a little better than a couple of years ago. we went to marmaris a few times during our hol last year and i didn't find the hassle as bad as a few years ago, it still happened but not as forceful as before and marmaris has got a beautiful harbour, especially at night.

We always stay in Icmeler because it truly has a magical atmosphere. However, I do like Marmaris as well, although the other half isn't so keen. There are one or two shops that we regularly use in the bazaar and because we go so often we don't tend to get too much hassle there. On our last visit in June we discovered a lovely restaurant by the harbour in Marmaris one lunchtime. We decided to make another visit for an evening meal later in the week and we had a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the place but it's a rooftop restaurant, close to the castle, offering stunning views by both day and night. The staff and owner really looked after us which made the evening even more special. Just looking forward to the next visit at the end of September.
