Tips for a first timer

Postby daddylanc » 12 Jul 2010 21:51

Any must do/must see advice for a first time visiter? Going on the 29th July; two weeks SC. Family of four (kids 4 and 5) staying in small apartment complex just behind the Marti.

I have been reading the forum for a while, starting to get seriously excited now! Specific info would be welcome, advice from all of you that have experience of Icmeler with small children. Or just general coments about what a fantastic time we will have, compared to our last few holidays in the canaries will do.

After reading what has been posted on here, i'm conviced we will fall in love with the place. Tell me I'm right! :D

Hi and welcome to our forum. I'm sure you will have a fantastic holiday and perhaps you will also get the bug like all the rest of us have.

I can relate to your concerns, as I remember I also felt the same when we visited Icmeler for the first time with two small children sixteen years ago. However, my son is now married, daughter just had her first teaching post yesterday and my husband and I are still visiting! and hopefully one day might end up spending months in Icmeler when we retire (I wish!!!) Icmeler has basically everything to offer, the weather, fantastic people and brilliant food. July/August can be very hot in Icmeler, so please be careful with the children, plenty of suncreams and plenty of water and they should be fine.

If you have any other concerns, just post any questions on the forum, and everybody here is very friendly and will no doubt try to help you with various topics.

We fly out to Icmeler on the 30th July for three weeks (can't wait!!)

Hi and welcome to the Forum. When we first went to Icmeler our son was 3 and our daughter was 10. The locals can't do enough for you and they adore children so you will be welcome anywhere with them. We usually go July/August and yes it is hot so same as what the other have said make sure yourselves and the children have plenty of high factor suncream on, spend time in the sea and pool and drink plenty of fluids (including an Efes or two for yourselves at night !!). Enjoy. I wish we were going this year but not to be so I am enjoying reading everybody elses posts. Please post your review when you get back and happy holidays :D

Hi Daddylanc and welcome - am sure you'll all have a great time and that it will be the 1st of many visits to icmeler

the only thing I'd add to the tips already given is that if your children can't swim, to try and get those live vest type swimming aids that they can wear all the time they are around the pool/sea - a lot of the pools in Icmeler don't have a deep end so the vests will give you peace of mind and are more comfortable than arm bands

oh and along the same lines, those all in one sun protective suits are great - better than forgetting to put suncream on 8)

Remember where ICR office is located (adjacent to ATM machines in the centre, above Tandori Sizllers, on 2nd floor) and incase you need any sort of assitance, drop by our office. You do not need to be a customer of ICR in order to receive assistance or support ;)

Have a great holiday!

hi, Daddy, I go to icmeler on 31st of July and although it will only be my second visit there, I know there will be lots more (god willing). It is the perfect place for a holiday and I know you and your family will have a wonderful time.
The people there are so helpful and friendly, that even if you did have a problem, they would be more than willing to help. Enjoy and let us know what you think. :D

Thanks for all your replies.

Over the last few years, since the children were born, we have holidayed in the Euro zone. Because of this I have allways booked all inclusive. This is the first time we've been away SC with the kids. So I suppose I am feeling a bit worried about loosing the security you get with AI. I do have couple of questions so I'll start another thread. Any other general tips or advice before we go are still most welcome here.

Thanks again.

I'm most impressed. Will pop in and say hello, even if, as i suspect, there are no problems.

Getting seriously excited now. Finished work on Friday for six weeks (bet you can guess what i do). Nearly two weeks of pottering around the house 'till we fly out on the 29th. Takes me back to when I was a child at Christmas time, two weeks felt like years. Can't change my flights now though, may start walking tomorrow and ask family to meet me there.

Daddy.
