First Timer

14 Jul 2010 16:46

Hi guys

First time to Icmeler, well first time to Turkey ever. I am staying at the Chateau de Ville hotel. I'm going on recommendations from the internet, freinds and it comes highly recommended from a work mate who goes to Icmeler every year "Gez45".

I am going with a freind we are both in our mid 20's and am really looking for chilled days and a bit to do and then a bit louder nights with a few cocktail/themed bars but not night clubs you know the sort I mean!

We both really want to lap up the Turkish way of life and really experience some new things.

Any recommendations for trips a good place for turkish shaves and baths would be really appreciated??

I leave my holiday in your capable hands :)

Gary

Hi Gary welcome to the forum and welcome to our beloved Icmeler. Both me and OH are a" bit" older than you, (I can hear everyone we know laughing, well stop, this is serious) but we like a varied night out and find that there is always something diffrent going on, also a lot of the same I must add. There is the Stella show which is a Drag act being a first timer you have got to go it's a kind of right of passage for all Icmelerites. We have found there is
always something entertaining going on where ever you are, be it Micheal Jackson, Tina Turner, Breakdancers(fantastic) or even the Robot. I am sure you will get lots of idears given to you by other members.
Get out on 1 of the boat trips, some of them are all inclusive so you dont have to pay for local beers and drinks or lunch and a chance to see diffrent area's of the coastline, also a great day out is a Jeep Safari, you get up into the mountians and away from the coast for a while, we visited the waterfalls and a quiet beach on our last one, once again food is included. Get in touch with the girls at the office and I'm sure they will gladly help you with both of these.
If you really fancy a lively night you just jump on a Dolmus(local bus) and head into Marmaris with its bar street and harbour side bars and resturants it's only 10-15 mins away.
What ever you get upto I am sure you will have a great time.

Hiya!
You will find when you get there that there is probably a a hairdressers every 100 yards dying to shave and style you. But if you are not wanting to be bombarded by hairdressers I would suggest the day before you leave shave your heads! That's what my husband did this June and it worked - unfortunately they then seemed to target me more, wanting to do my eyebrows, nails, you name it. Have a fab time anyway, I'm sure you will :)

Thankyou thankyou thankyou for the info I am really getting into the holiday spirit and it isn't for a few more weeks! I am glad to hear more good reports for the hotel although I have heard nothing but good. Lucky choice I guess!

The boat trip is a must and the jeep safari sounds good so thanks for those Elaine/Peter. My eyebrows are looking a tad wayward and I may get some extensions I am getting fed up of my No1 cut now :p

Any more ideas guys I really appreciate the swift feedback. You are diamonds :)
