First visit to Icmeler but not the last

Postby Mudguard350 » 27 Jun 2010 18:04

Just got back from our first visit to Icmeler and have to say it was the best holiday we have had. We stayed half board at the Aqua and have no complaints at all. We loved Icmeler as a resort, sitting on beach could have been on west coast of Scotland with mountains on all sides...beautifull, had lunch somewhere different everyday and never had a bad meal. Evenings were generally spent between Oscars, Wonder Bar, Dream 3 Bells, Dream Boys, Irish Bar with early quiet drinks at bars such as Friends and Romeo & Juliets. We found the staff in all the bars to be friendly, welcoming and entertaining. Took the water taxi to Marmaris, the journey was nice but didn't care for Marmaris. Went on boat trip via tour operator, Thomas Cook, good day out, could have done same trip for half or third of price via local operators but wife wouldn't chance it. Looking already into booking for same time next year, I can see why people keep going back.

Hiya Mudguard,
So pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We felt exactly the same after we had been 1st time. I would always turn my nose up when Turkey was suggested for a holiday, But we eventually booked 4 yrs ago, that 1st time was in Marmaris and we had a great holiday, were mad that we hadn't came to Turkey sooner. The year after we came to Icmeler and it was fantastic, loads better than Marmaris. We would quite happily come here every year we have such a great time.
We are going 31st July, and we cant wait, we are taking our 21yr old daughter with us this time, I am dying to show her everything i hope she loves it as much as us and her 14yr old brother lol.
You will have to start counting down to next year now x

Hi Shaz, we were the same, kept saying 'dont fancy Turkey' despite everbody I knew who had been saying how great it was and now like you I really regret not having gone there earlier. One good thing for me was as I'm not so keen to get up to dance I could just sit and relax quite content as my wife danced with the Turkish lads! While I appreciate it is their job to get people into the bars it is always nice to feel truly welcome, I've shook hands and had more hugs over the last 2 weeks than I have in the rest of my life and I'm no spring chicken. Definitely counting down until next year. Would probably have gone back for a week in September if we hadn't already booked for Spain. :D :D :D

Hi Fanny. We are travelling 28th July also with a 14 year old daughter. Daughter is getting worried she
wil not meet anyone this year as we are going to apartments instead of a hotel.
Where are you staying ? Maybe we can also bump into each other with our daughters!

Hi Fanny and Mo, yes it will be good if we bump into each other, dunno if my son is quite into girls yet lol, he is mad for the pools and boat trips, we will probably be doing a few boat trips, so may bump into you, or at one of the many lovely restaraunts. I will be the one in a wheelchair :( Its gonna be my 21yr old daughter that'll be the problem i hope she will meet some people around her age to hang with, save me some grief lol
