WASPS AND BEES

08 Jun 2006 08:12

Hi All
I have heard that there are problems with wasps and bees at the Greenworld apartments , is it that bad or just a minor thing?
Also is it worse in any particular month ?

Thanks for any advice

Alan

ye you do have problems with bees, but normaly its at the end of the season september onwards when the bee keepers move the hives down from the mountains.

Hi Alan

I am staying at the Julian Forest apt, right next door to Greenworld and was there last year too. We were there in June and the wasps were a bit of a problems then, mainly at around 6pmish until it got dark then they all seemed to go to bed. I do believe it got worse as the season went on though from the reports I read. Having said that, it certainly did not spoil our holiday as we did not really eat there when there was more wasps about. I did hear that they were going to try and put some sort of netting around to try and help with the problem, but dont know how true that is. It is one of the downsides to staying up so close to the mountains, but we enjoy it there. Hope this helps.

Alan,
My son and his girlfriend stayed at Greenworld late June last year. He said there were a few in the evening but nothing to speak of. It's in a beautiful setting so it's probably being so near the mountains. He had a few mossie bites but nothing else. Enjoy your holiday, Greenworld is stunning.

Wasps live on a cycle and all they want to do is look after the queenwhich survives the winter, make new queens and then makes a new nest.

Wasps die as the summer cools and then they will sting anyone as they don't care they are going to die anyway.

I used to dig the nests for fishing so know this info from that

Hi Alan,
Just returned from Icmeler - stayed a stones throw away from Greenworld and saw only one wasp. More mossie bites reported than wasp sightings!
