Wine Prices

Do you consider the prices asked for a bottle of Turkish wine in restaurants to be on the high side, 20TL upwards.Sometimes the cost is greater than the price of the meal. A few years ago a cheap local wine was available served in a jug taken direct from the barrel but I never see this happening now.

John

The price of wine in Turkey is ridiculously high, but I think this is more to do with taxes on their alcohol than the actual cost of production ... a bit like the UK actually!!!

We acme back from turkey a week ago, the wine is resonably priced, you can get a bottle in a reasturant for 20 - 25 lira which is 8-10 pound if you think what you would pay in england in a pub or restuarant which would be 15 - 20 pound its quite cheap out in turkey.

If you start going regular to a favourite restaurant they may even throw in the wine free, that's what happened to us last year but we have been going for the past 3 years. You can also get set menus with wine thrown in. Like I say though we are a bit boring and like to stick to our regular over looking the beach ............. lovely.

Cheapest wine I got was at Robin Hood Restaurant, it was pretty good too, but I cant remember the name of it.

Edit to say, I also paid 15 lira for the wine in Robin Hood.

We had a really nice bottle of rose in Romeo & Juliet in June, only cost us 15 lira. Think it was the doluca make.
