Elvis Shows in Icmeler

30 Mar 2009 08:36

Hi

I'm going to Icmeler in August with a friend who is a BIG Elvis fan. We will be there on the 16th which will be the 32nd anniversary of his death.

Does anybody know if there are any bars that do an Elvis show that we could go to while we are there ?

Many thanks

Never seen any Elvis tributes in Icmeler and if there are any it will just be the waiters dressed up doing it so not really a tribute show.

We wish there was a proper tribute act i.e. that looked like and sounded like, it would make a very pleasant change from Michael JAckson lookalike dancer, belly dancers, Turkish weddings traditional dance and the dancing waiter, and the other poor waiters who have to do Dirty Dancing, Grease, and basically run round like nutters, thinking of Heat N Breeze last year, doing Grease or attempting it.

There is an Elvis bar however on the corner of the main road opposite Cafe Ann, I dont remember hearing anything or seeing anything remotely Elvis themed. They had one waiter doing / miming one song on the Elvis night. You'll see the blackboard advertising who's doing what and when.

The Karaoke bars would most likely have Elvis songs if the people picked them.

It would be a great business opportunity for someone though. If the owners would cough up the money to pay.

I'm hoping they will have changed improved on the entertainment this year but as people go over they can report any changes.

Cant wait till we go in August though.

Hi Bev

do you not think that the belly dance and the Turkish wedding and traditional dance are part of the Turkish culture and are there for people who have not been Turkey before to see.
I agree with you about the waiters and the so called tribute shows and there have been a lot of threads on this subject so I wont go on about it

Just thought I would bring up the point about the traditional culture side

Sorry to highjack your thread Barbara

In Wonderboys last year, one of the waiters did a very good Elvis impression, not your typical Tina Turner type thing, but dressed well, sang brilliant and had all the actions. I wouldnt call it a tribute night, but he did do a good 4-5 songs and sounded really good too.

Thanks everyone

I personally love the traditional folk dance, and would never get tired of watching it, even after 11 years of holidaying in Icmeler. But there are many bars that I have not visited, so just wondered what else was out there.

I can't stand the Michael Jackson act, so was asking about Elvis shows with fingers crossed to be honest.

As my friend is a HUGE Elvis fan, and only mentioned the other day that she willl be in Icmeler for the "anniversary" I thought I would ask & hope.

We will pop along to Wonderboys and the adaptly named Elvis bar and see.

Many thanks again

Hopefully your friend will get to see the one we seen last year, he was very good, then when he has finished his spot, the Elvis bar is only a 2 minute walk.

Hi Steve (SWC) its the boobs in face and lira in clothes that does me in and they shake it at us women as well, whats that about.

Theres other traditional types of Turkish dancing i've seen in Olu perhaps the owners need to book other dance troupes i.e the jumping twirling men similar to cossack dancing.

Me and the girls are or have been ballroom dancers so love all types, it just needs a bit of a change, like the music no more cha cha slide please.

Back to Elvis though, we only went to Wonderboys once so missed that one.
