Ken
Do these trips go from Icmeler? And what time do you normally set off and return? And, more importantly, how long do you have to spend on the bus?

The bus to Fethiye goes from Marmaris bus station every half hour and takes about 3.5 hrs. There are several companies that run buses that you can pick from, the offices are on the corner by Tansas in Marmaris, you can get information from them.

:P :P we got picked up in icemeler at hotel and it was a coach trip. think we booked with the rep can,t remember exact details apart from it was a coach tour and a good day out. suggest you shop around when you get there.

Silverfox is right, it takes 31/2 hours but it is air conditioned coaches and thay do look after you very well, also have stops along the way to pick up passengers so you do have time to stretch your legs and have a ciggy if you smoke. It was a couple of year ago we did it and i think it was about £10 return for the 2 of us. You have to get 2 dolmus's thought one to tansas and one to the main bus station in Mamaris. If you book with a tour opperator you may have the hasstle of going round other hotels picking people up. Pesonally i would use the local transport. You want to leave earlyish to give your self's time at the other end or book a room for the night and come back the next day we did the trip over the weekend. Plenty of cheep accomadation around.

Fethiye

A lovely place to visit, try going on a Tuesday as they have a massive market by the canal.
The trip does take a while but the main stops for stretching the legs are Ortaca and Dalaman and a pleasant way to look at the countryside. The views after Dalaman are really nice and you'll get to go through the Gocek tunnel, that was built to cut down the travel time of going over the mountain.
The coaches do go every 30 minutes and if you make your way straight to the main coach station, you'll find all the coaches named with their destination.
If going from Icmeler, take the dolmus to Tansas, stay on that side of road and wait for the light blue and white Siteler dolmus for the coach station. Just get on the coach and the driver will come round to collect your fares. Everyone time I've travelled this way all the drivers have been very helpful even if they speak no English, they 'll even tell you how long the stops are by signs.
Hope this helps.

In regard to going to Fethiye, due to the distance and time involved have you ever thought of going there, and booking into a room for the night. and returning the next day. All you need is your flight bag with a few personal bits etc, then you have all the first afternoon and also most of the next day to enjoy, as well as a night out.
I assure you it is easy to do as in most places there will be small properties with rooms vacent or indeed posably one of the bigger hotels, depending on what you want.
Indeed the first couple of years we were in Icmeler we did this, although on a grander scale so to speak, in our case we rented a car and went out for two or three days at a time, just basicaly set off and stopped where we liked, whilst obviously taking in the main wonders like the coastline of Kas, Kemer and Fethiye up into the snow covered mountains. Another. time up to Pammukkale Ephesus Izmir etc. we literaly just set off with a map and tour book. Fantastic times and we will do it again someday
