Icmeler Market

17 Oct 2008 12:44

Please can someone tell me if the Wednesday Market in Icmeler will be a full market the last 2 weeks of October?

Vixx - going by my experience a couple of weeks back, I would give it a miss. You can get the same stuff in the shops and at the same price if not cheaper. The hassle is also rediculous... one wee scrotum(sorry admin), it is the least he can be called, flicked a burning cigarette end at me as i walked away from his stall because I was only browsing. I was pushing my 18 month old son in his pushchair at the time. I was facing the opposite way when it hit me...I knew something had happened but didn't know what it was. My wife saw what happened but didn't want to say anything in case I did something stupid back. As we progressed further back down the market my son began to cry... the cigarette end which was still alight had bounced off me and down to inbetween the pushchair cover and had burned through to the seat and onto his back.

I was furious...and stormed back to the stall, where he was all apologies..he certainly wasn't like that at the time he did it and he also knew what had happened. On leaving the market I reported it to the police who where just outside in the hope that there would be a market inspector/supervisor who would have this idiot banned from trading.... but surprise, surprise...suddenly no one knew how to speak english although they all did previously...

We didn't however let this incident spoil a tremendous first time in Icmeler.

I hope to write a review shortly...and I promise that the only other gripe that will be included will be the most ill mannered girls I have ever met - Tansas check-out assistants.

rant over... :-)

That's awful. I know that some of the stall holders can be quite abusive verbally, we had one tell us to F*** **f once. Also a waiter at one of the restaurants was down-right rude to my partner.

But these are very rare as the majority of people in Icmeler are polite, friendly and helpful.

Again I know what you mean, but they don't speak much english and I think it is just the way they are (probably don't realise they are like that)

Been to Icmeler 4 times and going back next year. Usually go earlier in the year but thought we would see what it's like at the end of the season.

Once again, sorry you had a couple of bad experiences In Tansas and Market, :x but you will probably find those people weren't even Turkish

In the 4 years I've been going into the Tansas the checkout girls have always been the same. If they smiled I'm sure they're face's would crack. Having said that Its not just us tourist they do it to....they have the same attitude with the locals as well. :(
Must be the heat!

Erik - it was certainly going to be that way until the wife reminded me that my son was already upset and that the police would have soon regained their temporary lost of english..

Was the only bad part of an excellent holiday. Will be back..maybe not next year (going to try Portugal) but in a year or 2.
