Hi there the music does get turned off at midnight because the police patrol Icmeler all day and well after midnight. The rest/bars etc will be threatened with closure if its not turned off or are caught playing it.

Hi Gordy99
We did hear from someone while we were there that Wonder boys were still playing loud music at 1.30am don't know how true this is I agree all the bars playing loud music should be curtailed but even the bars playing just light music had to switch off too so the place was a ghost town by 1am.

I do agree that the music should be turned off at a certain time and monitored but in my opinion I think that midnight is a tad early-I think it should be around 1/2 ish

09 Jul 2008 10:15

I think it should stay at 12 midnight this is a family resort and if you want loud music after 12 go to marmaris

09 Jul 2008 10:55

Well it is a family resort but so are many places that have loud music on :?: I dont think its exclusive to families and there are more and more young people going now, I know my family go and there are young children it it and I am sure they wouldnt mind the music on for another hour or two...I say if you want peace and quiet then go to your room! ha ha!

09 Jul 2008 11:14

Thats the problem Doz when people go to their room and the music is on till 1-2am they cannot sleep due to the noise.

Midnight for Icmeler is okay and if the younger people want music there are two nightclubs in Icmeler that play music till 4am long enough for anyone if they want to enjoy the sunshine next day.

I would agree with you on this, Gene. I think for most people, and for Icmeler as a resort, midnight is probably a reasonable compromise. As you say, for those who want music and dancing into the wee small hours, there are the two nightclubs. I'd hate to see Icmeler sliding down the route of becoming just another brash rowdy resort with music blaring out 24/7.
I did wonder if my daughter and her friend, who are both party animals, might find it a bit quiet, but they just stayed in the bars until the music stopped and then headed off to one or other of the nightclubs - they had a ball and loved it!

I love chatting with quiet music in the background after midnight, as long as it's not wild, whats the harm. I've waited years to be able to stay out late on my holidays after bringing up children  : Please don't make me go to bed at 12 by not having a little bit of quiet music till about 2pm.

09 Jul 2008 11:18

Oops! I meant 2am.

09 Jul 2008 11:45

Assume as Gene says, its because a lot of apts are directly over the restaurants / bars. That would be a nightmare for anyone to contend with.

Imagine being on the 1st floor directly over wonderboys or something with music blaring that early in the morning.

Admit it does feel strange when it suddenly goes quiet, but by midnight I'm usually knackered and ready for bed as I usually still end up waking up early in the morning. 4 weeks on Monday till we go, cant wait.

09 Jul 2008 11:57

Absolutely, I totally agree that would be a nightmare! It was the comment from Geovil though that concerned me, that even quiet music was made to be turned off. I definately agree that loud music should be controlled, and midnight is a reasonable time for that to stop. (if not earlier in some cases  some are ott at whatever time ) Happy balance would keep everybody happy. :D

09 Jul 2008 12:04

We stayed above the 3 Bells last year and if the music hadn't been turned off at midnight it would have been horrendous.
I do think that the police can be a little OTT, one night Tommy got a bollicking for serving us drinks in the bar at 2 am, even though we were residents. We had to go sit in the pool area !!!

09 Jul 2008 12:07

we stayed at Vinces the other week and undoubtedly the noise coming from the Elvis bar was far more invasive than the music,at least with the musc we can enjoy some of the songs but the lads in Elvis went a little over the top,i think 1am is a reasonable time to be allowessd to play music at a sensible level

09 Jul 2008 12:07

I once spent an holiday in an apartment were the pool table was just below the window.
Customers used to play pool till the early hours, the banging of the balls and the talking and laughter did get to me after a few hours so its not just music.

I have no objection to the bars playing light background music and people talking till 2 am but it never stops at that as people become intoxicated with the beer the music is asked to be turned up,
quiet talking becomes shouting rauciouse laughter developes and everyone wants to sing "Roll Out The Barrel"

Bars in Icmeler need to close by 2am so no one needs to go home early and there are always those that as long as customers are in will stay open longer but even in these staff will ask you to keep the noise down.

I think I must be getting old

I have concerns over some of the things happening in Turkey and Icmeler at the moment they are looking to go into the EC in a number of years if that happens with the taxation system they have implemented and going into the Euro it will become one of the most expensive countries in Europe, the entertainment industry as it is at the moment no music at all after midnight is a step too far we were in a couple of bars at midnight were the music was just background music and had to switch it off,I hated the likes of Linekers Blondies & the like the noise was disgraceful and then even after they have switched off the music they have to close by 2am it looks to me as if they are trying to kill the bar trade I did feel sorry for some of the bars and restaurants that had no one in them.

I think it will be a long time before Turkey goes into the EEC, as for the music we stayed at the Blue Rainbow once and we could not even keep our balcony door open as it was so loud, we now stay further a way up near the Lemon Tree but even that is getting loud round there, and that is a residential area so they must be getting annoyed, maybe stay further back in the village next year.

I understand that things do change but it has changed dramatically since i started going in 1998 and if starts getting any louder i might consider Turunc in future

09 Jul 2008 12:35

"Roll out the barrell "and "show her the way to go home," is probably what the locals say to my husband when they want to close the bars at 2am   Just joking, I've usually ran out of steam by 12 and just like a quiet chat.

Joking aside, A happy balance and common sense approach is all thats needed.

09 Jul 2008 12:38

I would not mind if they played nice music but it seems to be this boom boom stuff now, think i am getting old too gene

09 Jul 2008 12:45

Yeah I agree we stay at the Efes Inn and the music from the bars around there is ridiculous at times, What I was talking about was quiet music in the background where you have the best of both worlds-you can still sit and chat if thats what you want-I have to admit often the noise is louder from the likes of Havanna which dont have any music on-th enoise is chatting and laughing etc BUT at the end of the day this is what I save up for all year and I go to bed early every night at home (apart from wknds obviously) so I dont want to go all the way to Icmeler to be in bed righ early. People dont always want to go in night clubs-my friends have two little girls 8 and 10 and as much as they like music on after 12 ish and sit and have a chat etc they would not be dragging their little ones in a night club for this! I think its one extreme to another and it would be better of there was a happy medium what EVERYONE could enjoy...
