i came back tuesday after 1 week and i found it quiet being it was school half term week.the bar owners said it was quiet due to flight prices,i walked passed linekars one night at 10 pm nobody in there.i think there hoping for good july august september.one owner told me years ago it was a six month season but seems like 3 now.but any way had great time and with euro week i think it get buisier july august.

I think it will pick up.

I think people will realise the extra they are paying for a flight to Dalaman, is worth it compared to how much you would spend in food and drink etc in a country with the Euro currency.

hmm especially as the media is full of what a bargain Turkey is compared to Euro countries
went to Lanzarote in April and it was sooo quiet- again in school hols and I just don't know where all our money went.we barely went out and seemed to have gone through a fortune

I went to Benidorm fanny, and we were the same. Spent about £1000 between us in the week we were there, we hardly even ate because there was no where to eat, it went on drink alone and I wouldn't even say we drank that much either.

We came back saturday, it is very quiet, and Marmaris was even quieter, our friends who have restaraunt in Marmaris said they have never seen it like this before.

Salford Steve - that'll teach us won't it ha ha
we were the same
at least in Turkey, we can eat at Pide places for next to nothing and there are a lot of cheap bars in the back streets

First time I went to Icmeler I was shocked at how little a meal costs and we ate like pigs and drank like fish :D

That's one of the reasons I love it, one of the few places you can go and get by quite comfortably on not alot of money.

ha ha Steve, some of us still do

04 Jun 2008 20:48

Well I still do it myself.

I was out there May 19-26, a week later than I normally go and also found it much quieter than normal - which for me was lovely, but not good for those trying to run businesses.

I'm sure things will soon pick up, especially as Turkey is still one of the cheaper destinations, mind you it would help if the flights weren't so expensive

I found last June quiet aswell really, but busy enough for me. That's what I like about Icmeler you get best of both worlds, you canhave busy marmaris, or laid back icmeler. You can do both depending what mood you're in quiet easilly.

I always feel sorry for the locals when it's quiet :(
I think you can sometimes feel, how when it is quiet, that it really gets them down.
I really hope it picks up because they are such hardworking people.

05 Jun 2008 04:27

I feel sorry for them too.
Most of them work on a commission basis, if they dont make money they dont get paid.

You would think that such a beautiful, and friendly place would be really busy.

I still think Turkey has some kind of stigma attahced to it, not sure why. Lost count of the number of people I speak to say "oh no I've never fancied Turkey" then they look at me like I'm mad because I rant on as though I've got to defend it.

I think those people should try it, and then they'll love it, and it'll be busier.

the first time we went to Turkey, My Steve said the same thing that he had never fancied Turkey but we got a good deal so he said ok we'll go he loved it!!1 Said it was the best holiday he had ever had!!!

I was the same, my other half had been before we met. I didn;t know what to expect, and was abit warey. Think I expected a poverish kind of place, and not very modern. We got there late at night so didn't see much of it as slept on the transfer, woke up next day went for a walk, and I realised how modern it is, and thought it's just like Spain really only much nicer.
