I bought a lovely ring on the canal, the lady who owned the shop/stall said that the council had put up the rents sooo much this year , they were finding it hard to survive. She did say that they had made a nice job of the stalls, adding air con, nice flooring??but I hope it doesn't drive everyone out of buisness.

I much prefered the stalls on the canal before they were revamped !

Me too .... we've just got back and it seems to have lost its atmosphere a little, the shops and stalls are too restricted.

Hope the Pashmina people are still there with the stall next to the Venice

Only place we ever shop is on the canal used to love the little stalls there

Yeah the Pashmina people are still there on the canal! There are soooo many colours and the quality is really good! I bought a few 3 years ago and they wash so nice. The size of them are huge too, you could pay a fortune for something like that in England.

I've bought loads for Christmas and birthday presents - people say you should have spent so much - depending on who they are I say I didn't or well it's only once a year
But they do wash well and they always look new
Shame about stalls think it is all this new legislation - won't do much good if the stall holders go out of business though will it?

Being nosey here
how much would you pay for a pashmina on the canal?
On a different note, my daughters (teenagers) were told to get out of the jewelry stall, (the very last one going away from the beach, on the Majestic side) they thought the owner was joking but he definately wasn't. Anyway it was his look out they both spent £12 on two lovely silver rings further down. How rude - my girls are not lippy and wouldn't be rude to anyone.
