If you only opened a normal hsbc bank account you will be charged min 1.75 per withdrawal, however if you opened a bank account plus with them your withdrawals will be free, so will your travel insurance!!! I work for them

This is quite interesting. I think I will stick with my Nationwide account, which is totally free.

i bank with first direct part of hsbc and had free cash withdrawls last year at the hsbc cash machine in the centre
19 Apr 2008 16:35
halifax was free for us last year.
19 Apr 2008 16:52
I have the hsbc plus account so should get it free
19 Apr 2008 18:05
yeah I opened a nationwide account 2 years ago and always
transfer my money into there for my holidays, never had any problems with it

I was charged one year for using my Halifax card to get money out. Also HSBC charged us £3 for taking out £200 over there, even from a HSBC account. I dont understand that though, HSBC have got banks over there so dont see why they should charge for taking money out.
