are these the rates that the Supermarkets use when changing money Gene?
also whereabouts is the well known one that gets a mention on here - is it Mustafa's?

Not sure about the rates in turkey, but I know that the exchange rate for turkish lira over here is about 2.50, it's gone up very quickly and hopefully will keep getting better.

Hi Sue

If you go on http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/

it compares the market for you, can get some good deals if you have them delivered to your home. today best one is 2.45, but will go up again. It has been as high as 2.54.

05 Apr 2008 11:56

The Travel House today is showing 2.47.

Cant really have them delivered as I am always at work in the week

05 Apr 2008 16:20

Hi Sue

Why dont you just wait until you get to Icmeler you normally get a better rate there. :D

05 Apr 2008 21:09

I normally only get a small amount over here so it is not worth paying the delivery charges to home

06 Apr 2008 18:33

Just come back from Icmeler and i was getting 2.4 to the pound whilst i was there.

10 Apr 2008 10:45

Exchange rate here today (10/4/08) is:
2.43 at Post office
2.44 at Currency express
2.39 at the Co-op

We usually only convert £100 to get us started then get the rest exchanged in Turkey at a better rate

10 Apr 2008 14:26

We got 255ytl for GBP out there
cant see the point buying here They take € or £'s

10 Apr 2008 16:41

Womble.

Steve is telling you that you have made a mistake and just correcting you as you may remember that when you first started viewing the forum (before you asked questions) you may have took your quote as correct then spotted it in the high street higher than that and bought a load.

You would have then landed at Icmeler and been dissapointed when you found you had a better deal there.

It may be better if you correctyou post to bring it up to date with current rates.

Also I wouldn't bother with taking euros.

The people from the UK use Sterling so the only people that may take euros would be from Europe and then I would get the things changed in their own country before leaving as THEY would get a better rate.
